    grams of protein per shake

Which protein shake has the highest grams of protein per serving? I bought a tub of optimum nutrition pro complex which has 55g of protein per serving (the most i've ever seen in a protein drink), and was wondering if there are any other shakes out there with more protein?

There are some powders out there that have 60 grms of protein like Pro V 60 by labrada and many others but you won't assimilate that much anyhow unless you are very heavy. I use 50 grms of protein in every meal but that's because I'm over 200 pounds.

BTw, optimum pro complex is an excellent deal. Good choice.

Nuclear nutrition has 80 grams per serving and 22 grams of glutamine. No stomach upset and i have a sensitive stomach.

Most protein shakes have similar amounts of protein just they require you to take more scoops then others. For example Nuclear Nutrition's Ultra-Pro 7 requires you to take 4 scoops in order for you to get 80 grams of protien. Where as Optimum nutritions 100% Whey says that 1 scoop will give you 21 grams of protein. So if you took 4 scoops of Optimum's you would get the same amount as 4 scoops of Ultra-Pro. I am guessing it is just a marketing technique these companies use so you think your getting more protein per serving.

Yes, that is true, to an extent. I have tried optimum and 3 scoops my stomach couldn't handle, but i can handle 4 of ultra pro. Like i said though, after my accident and being in a chair, my stomach is nothing like it used to be. I also like the glutamine and i need to have a good tasting shake.

indeed i don't know why people stress so much about protein PER SERVING.

i would rather worry about percent of protein in a powder by weight, or by calories.

well another factor i can think of is how it mixes. some powders mix into very thin shake and some into very thick full-bodied one. for example Met-Rx SOY is VERY thick. if you want to use 3 scoops of it you might have to use 3 glasses and then you have no room in your stomach for anything else.

    Most protein per serving.

Personally I think going above 60 is stretching it, and even that should be multi-source. Isopure is 50g of pure whey which is much for something that's absorbed in about half an hour, and I personally use Twinlab Fuel Plex which has 45g (got a box for $12 at GNC. Man I love surprise 75% off sales). As for the most, the already mentioned Ultra 7 stuff has 80g, which is definitely too much at once for my taste.

That said, I also don't rely overly much on protein shakes. I make sure to have at least one a day, yes, always after a workout and whatnot, but the rest of my protein I try to get from food, resorting to a shake only if I can't get it any other way. Because I'm leary of weight gainers (far too many carbs for me) as MRs, I try and get my calories from food. Also milk! Big Cat got me goin on milk and it's been more helpful than anything. That's a factor in protein per serving. 12 oz of milk will ad yet another 15g of protein. Make that a full two cups and that Ultra 7 suddenly has 100g of protein. All at once. Woo. Hell, throw in some eggs and some cheese and you're climbing up on all you need for the entire day.

The key is to find out how much your body can handle at one time. Everyone is different in that regard. As a rule of thumb when using whey alone stick to smaller shakes and drink them more often. Try to avoid taking more than 30 grams at a clip because your body will end up oxidizing much of it for energy. When using a blend it is normally okay to go to more grams per shake. I use a blended protein and can handle upwards of 60-70 grams at a clip with no problems. Any of the commercial blended protein mentioned in this post are good, or you could make your own really doesn't matter.

Everybody is different and there are factors like bodyweight that come into play as well. At 220+, I find 80(sometimes 90 with milk) works well for me. Definitely go with a blend.

Chevy or T/A? Chevy at the moment, but next year I'm going for the T/A. Totally blacked out, ram air, 12psi supercharged. I've wanted a 98+ T/A since they first came out. Insurance sucks for a v8 right now at my current age so I've had to settle for a 97 3.8v6 camaro with a 75hp shot of NX nitrous.

I drink around 1.5 to 2 gallons of water a day, plus due to my accident, i get a kidney scan every year. I like to consume up to 400 grams of protein a day, but i also go through periods where i consume 100 grams a day and even less sometimes. I cycle it with my training intensity. Works for me so far and no probs with the kidneys. I also take cranberry extract to prevent UTI's everyday.
