Its all about the same calorie or carb wise (liquor). Mix with some non calorie mixers. Whatever you prefer. I'd say this is a better option than beer.
You already know its going to hurt your gains, so I won't speak to that. Just keep it in moderation. Hydrate well before and after. Popping a multi before bed and some water will work wonders tommorrow.

You'll take a lower carb and cal hit if you stick to liquor, particularly clear liquor, but then you may also be inclined to drink more actual alcohol, which is worse for you than getting the excess calories, but I tend to think liquor with a low-cal mixer is probably the best way to go. Have fun!
I'm calling it right now that somebody's going to chime in and say "Neither!" Good God we know. And yes, that was just some preemptive chewing out for the prudish among us.

In my opinion, those who can't put off the social drinking completely (ME!), liquor with diet soda is the better choice. You tend to drink more beers (8+) compared to a few mixed drinks. Then again, I think those should be limited to begin with.

I see it this way... Bulking drink beer... Cutting Drink Licks
The problem with liquor is some people can't take it without mixing or chasing and you end up having like a full pop or w/e you chase with so if you can do it without chasing grab the white rum... Though i find i get way too hammered when i drink hard licks and also i find you actually get a hangover i dont really get hangovers from drinking i just don't sleep very long when im drunk for some reason so im tired and some times still drunk the next dayLegalize it and I will advertise it!

my calorie counter says:
30ml of barcardi, bourbon, rum, scotch etc w/ diet coke is about 70cal.
spirits have alcohol content of 40% roughly.
a can 375 ml of full strength beer is 140 cal
low alcohol about 62 cal
alcohol content of about 1-10% (depends on brand)
3/4 can beer /about 30 ml spirit = 10 grams alcohol
So it depends on how many you drink but beer has more calories per serving this way with same amount of alcohol.

This guy knows whats up. If I'm at a bar I just ask for a Jack and Diet. Simple, cheap, doesn't taste bad. Better if they have coke zero.
When I'm buying booze I like citrus vodka's and diet dew. Or diet apple juice and some form of apple vodka or "moonshine."
This is like anything else OP. You're going to get people telling you that you should never drink ever, or that you should only drink red wine the first Tuesday of every month. But ultimately you need to find balance between your fitness life and your social life. I'll get a drink or two with dinner once a week maybe. I'll go out and drink maybe once a month or every other month. When I was younger and my friends were partying more I used to get outright trashed every Saturday even while cutting and it didn't effect much.
edit: Dammit. Didn't see the date. Nice bump guys....

I have no science to back this but I think liquor is probably better than beer just because it's easier to consume a bunch of beer than it is liquor. When I drink whiskey, I just sip it out of a glass with one ice cube and the process is a lot slower. I can easily drink a 6 pack of beer though as you are constantly just drinking it.

IN on necrothread.
These 'alcohol' threads always turn out the same; the drunks on one side of the aisle, and the teetotalers on the other. Then they take turns pissing at each other across the aisle. Nothing is solved, nobody changes what their opinion of drinking/not drinking might be.
The only thing I'll add is that if you decide to drink, don't drink and drive, and don't ride with someone else who does. I am dead srs here.
Carry on......................No brain, no gain.

Wine is better than both. It has VERY low sugar and is low carb so you can drink it regardless of cycle. You drink less of it to get buzzed. Those wines in the small Tetra Paks at the grocery store are THREE servings. You're full of **** if you slam one of those down and aren't buzzed...and they're only $3-4. Wine typically gives really ****ty hangovers due to not being filtered more than once, so make sure you drink lots of water before or afterwards.
