I can't get used to eating oatmeal *bleh*

I bought "The Eat Clean Diet" by Tosca Reno after reading lots about it on the internet and in other mags/books. She has a whole huge thing that is just about eating oatmeal. I just can't get the hang of this! I've adapted well in the past few weeks to eating pretty different than I did before, but there's something about oatmeal that I just can't stomach. I've tried putting peaches in it, and also tried using cinnamon.

Any good ideas, especially to sweeten it up without the use of sugar (other than the sugars in fruit of course)? I read the oatmeal mix-ins thread in this section, but still can't figure out if any of the things will be able to change the flavor enough for me to be able to eat oatmeal.
    Ideas? Thanks!

Oatmeal, while a favorite with bodybuilders, is not required.

You can get your carbs from other high-fiber sources like veggies and legumes (beans and peas), and still do well.

I know that this is not everyone's cup of tea but have you tried them toasted (not cooked in any water) or just plain raw and in cottage cheese? I seemed to have the same problem with oatmeal the texture just gets me, but having it raw to me tastes really good.
It is an option and just like empresscat said, they are not a requirement, and if you find you can't stomach them no matter what, try other high fiber sources, quinoa, amaranth, and what she listed are great options too.

Don't eat it if you don't like it. You should enjoy the foods you eat!

    Amen....

Dieting, cutting or just generally changing eating habits is hard enough, trying to add foods that you despise to the chore will only make it that much harder to follow and stick to.

As another poster already said there are many other good sources of carbohydrates to get your needs from.

have you tried the weight control it's got cinnamon already in it and it has more protein and fiber to help you along, its not as bland as the regular oatmeal. i enjoy it.
