Plastic surgery

Anybody here had their eyelids lifted?

I'd be interested in hearing of your experiences with this op, also on undereye treatment.

I'm having my eyelids done in October after several years of deliberation. They aren't really droopy, but they have drooped a little over the years and give me a slightly tired look that annoys me.

And is there anybody who's had a forehead lift, I mean a full one, not an endoscopic one?

Hi Kristen, thanks for the link.

There was a very interesting article on lower eyelid surgery and the possible consequences of having it done the old-fashioned way. I'm really glad I read this before deciding about lower eyelid surgery and will discuss it with my surgeon when I go for the upper lid job, which is a lot simpler than the lower.

I certainly will, Kristen.

I have been horrified by some reports I've read or seen on TV of surgery gone wrong in the US and especially in Eastern European countries.

I'm having mine done in a regular Dutch hospital by a fully qualified and very experienced leading plastic surgeon. The title 'plastic surgeon' is fully protected here, whereas a 'cosmetic surgeon' can be any old ordinary doctor with no training in plastic surgery whatsoever.

I'm having it done under local anaesthetic, since I'm more scared of a full anaesthetic than I am of the surgery itself. And no MRSI bugs in our Dutch hospitals, which is another very serious consideration when choosing a country in which to have surgery.

i heard a horror story of a woman whose surgeon took just a little bit too much skin so she couldnt close her eyes all the way for like a year. she got shampoo/lint from pillows/all kinds of stuff in her eyes and looked suprised all the time.

all im saying is make sure you get a really good surgeon!

No matter how good the surgeon is, there is always going to be risk, so be SURE you are prepared to deal with a negative outcome.
