300lbs obtainable?

A friend of mine said "No way, Ronnie was 296 and he won't get any further!" ... I merely laughed, I think Ronnie, Cutler and Ruhl have some good chances of breaking the 300lb mark for competition.

Anyone agree with me on this? I know Ruhl is only 31, Ronnie is 40. Ruhl has a few good years left, I think he can do it. Ronnie can probally, not easily, but most likely hit 300lbs for next years Olympia.

So, do you think 300lbs is obtainable by a Mr. Olympia contestant? -- competition weight.

btw ruhl gets up to 330 in the offseason so he cud easy compete at 300, but there is being 300 and lookin good and 300 and lookin like crap

Its Greg Kovacs. Yeah he is big, but one of the worst looking bodybuilders of all time. A complete joke in the proffesional circle.

5 years? Jesus, you should be an actuary. If anyone knew they're **** they'd know Ronnie came in at 308lbs in the British GP this year and looked better than at the O. He tends to come in lighter than he can at the O cos he stresses condition so much at it - this peaked in 2002 when he came in at 247 severely depleted. The criticism from this made him go to 287 in 03, a weight he would have been near in 02 if he'd wanted.

Ronnie is an amazing bodybuilder and can throw around size like nobody else. 308lbs with striated glutes is amzing and he should rightly be recognized as the best.

Please stop conjecturing on his life expectancy - my Dad is one of the best actuaries on the world and would be delighted to have your psychic skills.

Ruhl has come on in leaps and bounds from the front, but when he turns around he has no chance against Ron. He holds water in his back, it isn't as detailed as Ron's and compared to Ron's striated glutes he has a fat ass! IMO Dexter should be the #2 bber because he's the only person who can match him from all angles but is just hugely outmuscled - if Ron was 50lbs lighter, a lot I know, Dexter would be #1.

One of the reasons that Big Ron is number one is that during an era where mass monsters are the leaders, whenever they climb to around 300lb it's so hard to keep condition, proportion and symmety. Thats why Ron is in a league of his own--he does the best at still keeping everything in balance, where as the other's weeknesses are exentuated.

at Dextors weight, its easy (all things being relative) to keep a balanced package...lets see him put on 40lbs and still look symmetrical. Sure he may look good , and so does ronnie*, but ronnie is in the weight range that grabs the judges attention


*Before people say..."but Ronnie doesnt look good", thats an opinion, looking "good" in this sport is a function of how you come together on stage, symmetry, conditioning, proportions, muscle bellys, tanning et cetera....not whether you find it too "freaky" or not

I know Ferrigno was around 275lbs when he competed in the '75 Olympia, but I'm almost positive he competed in the Masters Olympia at well over 300lbs, like between 310 and 315lbs. I thought that I read that in Muscle and Fitness' coverage of that show. I believe it was the second Masters he competed in.

I think what we are stressing here are people under 6 feet who are over 300 pounds... lou was huge... 6'6 or so... 6'6 300 is like someone 5'8 at 240. Not a big deal. 5'8-5'11 and 300 is a sight to see... I think ruhl will do it by the time he is 35. I say he will be around 286-290 this year. ROnnie will be over 300 this year for sure.


Gunther is 300, but he doesn't look half as good as cutler at 270 give and take.

Trick...I see your point, but to fill out a 6'5" frame the way Lou did is a pretty grand task. His height is so rare in bodybuilding because of that.

I didn't say Dex should put on 40lbs - he couldn't, but if Ron lost 50lbs I feel when you take height into consideration they wouldn't look too dissimilar on stage.

Dex's back is awesome at that weight, drop a lot of Ron and he can't toy with people - but that's the thing - he can have the size and symmetry and that's why he's the best ever. (That, and striated glutes)
