What is the best drink to have at a bar? Basically what drink has lowest calories and lowest carbs? I heard that Gin and Tonics are good, as well as Vodka redbulls. Any other suggestions? I definitely stay away from beer.

IMO "best" is a poor choice of words . . .
Asking what the "least damaging" alcoholic drink is more like it.
I recommend faking it w/ a "Virgin Mary" which is a Bloody Mary w/o the vodka. No one will know the difference & it tastes just as good.
But if u MUST have alcohol something like a real Bloody Mary or Gin & SF tonic water, tall drinks where the booze is diluted, sipped slowly, r prolly the least damaging. Stay away from drinks w/ a lot of added stuff, esp. sugary things, keep it simple.
Another low-alcohol option, which will make u look quite sophisticated is a Campari & Soda w/ a twist. Campari is an aperatif that has lower alcohol content than normal liquor & a cool-looking scarlet color. That was the last thing I used 2 drink b4 I gave up hard liquor completely.Best Regards,
Ed
To the optimist, the glass is half full . . .
To the pessimist, the glass is half empty . . .
To the engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

Measure out 1 to 2 shots of vodka and mix with flavored sparkling water (I usually buy Poland Spring). You can get lime, lemon, orange, etc flavored sparkling water. You can garnish/squeeze in a lime, lemon, or orange as well. Keeps you hydrated because of the water plus zero carbs (minimal if you squeeze in an orange). Clear liquors are the best too for minimizing a hangover...

If you want to avoid calories and have a few drinks just take shots. Each shot will have a few less calories than a beer. Whatever you do though, dont get chick drinks. Those will have tons of sugar and sweetner in them, absolutely filled with calories. Someone mentioned rum and diet coke, probably the "healthiest" drink you could sip on.

Whenever I have a couple of drinks, I try to get Bacardi and Diet Coke as it has 0 carbs, or I take shots and drink water in between.
Below is a clip from an article by the University of Rochester. The article is an interesting read about drinking and its effects on the body. It can be found here: http://www.rochester.edu/uhs/healtht...ricvalues.html
CALORIE REDUCING TIPS
-Try alternating alcoholic drinks with low calorie non-alcoholic drinks or water.
-Ask for low calorie / diet mixers where possible.
-Make your wine into a spritzer (a longer drink), or your lager into a shandy - both have fewer calories.
-Substitute your "alcopop" for a shot of spirit and a low calorie mixer - about a quarter of the calories!
-Plan your alcohol into your daily calorie quota so you can enjoy a glass or two. If you know you will be drinking during the weekend, try to save some calories each day in advance, so you can eat normally before you go out.
-Don't be tempted to skip meals to allow for drinks, as alcohol won't satisfy your hunger. In fact, alcohol lowers blood sugar levels (it prevents sugar that is normally stored in the liver, as glycogen, from breaking down). A drop in blood sugar levels sends signals to the brain you are hungry. With alcohol in your system, willpower can go out of the window and the snack attacks kick in. Eating a proper meal before you go out will line your stomach and slow the rate at which alcohol absorbs into your bloodstream, keeping you in control of how much you eat and drink.

**** that...get yourself a bottle of SoCo, have it within the hour and enjoy it...chances are you're gonna be sick anyways, so less calories! (or some other pseudo-factual pro-binge drinking statement)
How many lesbians does it take to screw in a light bulb? Five...one to change it and four to make the documentary about it.

Rum and diet coke. That's my **** right there. What else tastes good mixed with rum? I don't drink much so diet coke probably wouldn't hurt but I'd like to not drink soda at all.
