    Stretching sore muscle(s).

Hello Fellow Bodybuilders! I was working out today and i overheard some trainers talking about stretching your muscle if they are sore. Before i stretch my muscles, i want to ask you guys for your opinion on it; will it affect muscle growth?; will it benefit in muscle hypertrophy or will it slow down muscle growth? etc. Thanks.

flexing muscles increases bloodflow to the area thus allowing more minerals+water etc..... technically it should help you and not hinder gains...but i kind of stray away from that seeing as when i feel pain (or in this case, soreness), i generally stop whatever im doing altogether...

It def. helps... I'm with aeterna though on flexing like 2-3 min a day, just to get blood flowin a bit. It does hurt when you're sore, but eh, who said this sport was easy.

Stretching sore muscles = recipe for muscle tears.

You do realize that most "sore muscles" are muscles that have undergone many many many microtears (whether it's from resistance training, or strain put upon them while running, etc). To stretch muscles that already have tons of microtears is just asking for a legitimate muscle tear.

I'm talking about stretching. It seems some guys on here are talking about flexing. The two are practically complete polar opposites.

I would argue that stretching sore muscles, in a safe way, will not cause injury. As a runner, I've stretched sore legs hundreds of times, and I'm stretching my sore chest right now! I'll let you know when it tears
