    *** when to end a bulk ***

    I was on a diet all last summer and went from 205 lbs to 183, I lost quite a bit of fat and a little muscle but looked quite good and saw my abs for the first time ever - great . . .

    But it all got too much and have been bulking (clean), for nearly three months, since then evrything has been great I now weigh 212 lbs and have made some great gains in both strength and size . . .

    .....BUT, I am also putting on a big layer of fat around my stomach and have been trying to find out when most people would end a bulk and start a new cut, there is loads of great info here on how to diet, what to eat, when to eat ect. but not much about when to end a bulk or I have not been looking enough !

    When do you people end a bulk and start a cut . . . . (or is maybe cutting/bulking at my age a bad thing ??)

    Train: 5 days/week MAX-OT
    Cardio: 3 days / week
    Body fat - Bodycomp.com says more than 26%, calipers say 17% - i say more like 18 - 20%.

    I'm no great authority, but my current goals are to get down to around 8% fat, then bulk until I'm around 10%, then go back to cutting. I think it depends on your goals. If you are looking to get huge or strong, then cut when your fat is much higher. I prefer the look of being lean, even if it means less muscle mass. I don't look good with 20% fat, even with additional muscle under it.

    hey timmot, i end my bulk when i get to a point where i feel overly fat. i would consider a cut if i were happy with the size i gained during a bulk, and the strength gains that i made. personally though, if i were 18-20% bf, i would cut...but then again im an extreme ecto and freak out at the slightest fat gain...thats just my 2 cents. good luck man.
