What's your favorite "fitness" magazine and why?
I swear I subscribe to at least 20!
What's your favorite and why?
I find alot of them claim to be geared at getting healthy but tend to talk only about fad diets and "looking sexy." Sometimes I just get disgusted. Just curious what you guys like to read to see if there is anything new out there that I haven't seen.
You know if it were easy, EVERYONE would be doing it. www.shapeupwithsuzie.com

my favorite mag is Muscle & Fitness. i have found that even though most workouts are made for men i have no problems rearranging them for myself in my gym. mostly i just lower the reps by a couple. they also dont do many "silly " articles about your boyfriend or whatever clothes are in style or any of the other thins in regular chick mags.
P.S. i also get shape, but havent really gleaned anything from it yet. except what to wear or not wear this summer to LOOK thinner!
be strong , be sexy, be motivated.

I get Shape and Oxygen. Shape's not that great, but sometimes I get a good cardio idea (so I don't get bored). I really like oxygen, but could do with out the 100pgs. of ads=)

My sentiments exactly...Most of the fitness magazines geared towards women seem to be concerned mostly with what's in style, how to do your makeup, hairstyles and so on. So many only have a couple articles about workouts, and most of the time it's too girly for me.

I like Oxygen the best, followed by Shape, Self and Fitness.
I want to be stronger--I'm already lean!

I think Reps and IronMan are both good magazines (even though they're mostly geared towards men). Both magazines publish realistic workouts that everyday people can perform without all of the added fluff of the more popular magazines (Flex, MuscleMag, and Muscle and Fitness). I've looked at Muscle and Fitness Hers and Oxygen and I'm not impressed. Although both usually have good recipes (I love to cook) their agenda seems to be to turn everyone into a glamour model. I don't think they understand that there are females who want to do more than just "tone". I think Shape is nothing more than a glorified beauty magazine.

I'm subcribed to both Oxygen and Women's Heath. I also pick up Muscle and Fitness occasionally.

I get Muscle and Fitness and FLEX.
Today, just like yesterday, and like tomorrow,
I will make the most of my workout.
I will be intense, I will be committed, I will be focused.
Today, just like yesterday, and like tomorrow,
I will push my body to the limit,
I will embrace the hurt, I will embrace the pain.
Today, just like yesterday and like tomorrow,
I will lift heavier
I will get bigger
I will get stronger

Love FitnessRx for women! It makes me sad they are not a monthly but it is the only magazine I am not finished with in 15 mins. Yeah the girls are glam and they have small bits about being pretty but they seem to take every bit of info from the other mags and condense them into need-to-know morsels. Plus I like looking at some of the models for motivation.
I'm gonna go pick up a Muscle and Fitness now but I'll have to hide it from the boyfriend as he will likely think I bought it to look at the guys....sigh.

I wait anxiously for my Oxygen and Women's Health to arrive! I just buy Muscle and Fitness if I happen to see it and something draws me in. I also subscribe to Runner's World and I love that too. Of course, if you're not a runner it's probably of no interest to you. lol

i don't really read fitness magazines anymore; not to say that i feel i'm a resident expert or anything - i just don't like shifting through all the ads.
I go to certain websites and read articles, like on T-nation.com & muscle with attitude

Hi Suzi, if it's not too much trouble, can you list your magazine subcriptions geared towards women? I've been looking for a few. The only one I'm familiar with is Oxygen. I need lots of motivation.

I normally don't find anything very mentally stimulating in Oxygen or M&F Hers anymore. I normally flip through it and if I find super-motivating pictures (yes, I'll buy magazines for the pictures! LOL) or delicious looking recipes, I'll purchase it.
Same goes with Flex, MD, M&F, Reps and the like. I AM more likely to find articles and workouts that seem interesting enough to purchase the mag in those, though.
I buy Fitness and Physique Magazine when I can find it.
When I was a kid, I read M&F religiously and had a subscription for a while. But haven't found anything that regularly wows me over the others to purchase a subscription lately.

I like Fitness Rx. Short sweet articles relaying facts and debunking myths a lot.
The only thing about Fitness Rx is that there feature girl is often 5'6 5'7 and like 110lbs. Lots of small frame girls in there would like to see some medium and large framed features.

That is one of things I have written them about over and over again. They lie! One chick on there was supposed to be 115 at 5'9'"! That would be emaciated IMO!

I found this thread really interesting; I've been buying some of my "home" magazines but bb-ing scene in my country is, what's the word? Non-existant. So naturally, the magazines blow. I'm interested in subscribing to an US or a British magazine, but such a subscription costs a lot of money... so my question, basically, is "is it worth it"? Or can I simply stick to the net sources? What are your opinions...? I'm mostly interested in quality info articles, workouts and sample diets.

Net sources are BETTER. if you subscribe to a printed mag, you are paying for the multitude of ads. i swear, at least 1/2 of all the pages in bb mags are ads for some sort of supplement.
