Vegetarian Kat_investor's IntraXCell log
Thank you Sebastian & Athletic Edge Nutrition for picking me as one of your vegetarian testers. I am really looking forward to receiving IntraXCell & getting started. Until then, a little background on me. I have been a vegetarian for a year. When I decided last month to get serious about getting in shape & started my bodyspace profile I began adding occasional tuna to my diet. Otherwise it's been no meat, fish, seafood for a year. (Since I just started with the tuna, I could stop this if you prefer.) I have been eating clean & working out for just a few weeks. Currently not taking any supplements. I've posted photos, some of my workouts & progress here on my bodyblog:
http://bodyspace.bodybuilding.com/Kat_investor/
Goals: My immediate goal is to shed another 13 pounds. I then want to define my muscles, esp in my abs, hamstrings, quads, glutes & delts. I want a 6 pak. Would love to have some glutes (never have). That would be amazing.
Age: 43
Weight: 162
Sex: Female
Body type: mesomorph
No drugs or medical conditions
Training experience:
I was very fit in the mid 90's. 30+ pounds lighter, and a decade younger. Since then I've only gone to the gym sporadically, and for years ate..whatever. My all time worst point was over a year ago weighing 185 (23 lbs more than now). Now that I'm eating clean & working out, I want to get back into similar shape as I was ten years ago.
Training Schedule/Protocol:
Gym daily: weights each body part, 12-15 reps, 3 sets
alternating so train each bodypart about 3x/wk (I will begin writing exactly which bodyparts, reps, sets & amt of weights)
Meals: (sample weekday)
around 7:30am nonfat cappuccino, protein bar or 100 calorie snack
around 11:00-12 tuna on lettuce or cabbage, or soy based patty on lo-cal bun & salad with light balsamic dressing
snack: weight watchers ice cream bar
around 3:00 protein bar or nectar shake
around 5:00 Veggie dish (brocoli or spinach, etc), egg salad (nonfat mayo, wasabi),
(gym sometime between 6:00-9:00)
post workout snack: diet gingerale with lime & mint
water - 2 liters
Cardio Schedule:
aerobics classes 3x/week (1 hr)
stair stepper 4x/week (20-30 min)
That's about it for now. Can't wait to get started!

My pleasure.
Kat, thank you for getting your log up, looks like a solid format. You should be receiving your IntraXCell early this week, so keep an eye out.
Regarding your tuna, question, I would just continue what you were doing before, no need to remove it completely.
I'm sure there will be many more ot our testers posting in your log in the next few days.
Best of luck

Very good start Kat, looking forward to this log. That first workout should serve as a good benchmark to compare to your final workout on IXL

Log for 7/17 & 7/18
Here's my log for part of this week (still haven't started IntraXCell):
7/17/07 rest day
7/18/07
Legs
hacksquats 70# 12/20 1/2
legpress 90# 20/15 2/1 (last 5 reps assisted)
quad extensions 60#/80# 15 1/2
abductor 150#/180# 12 2/1
adducter 80# 15 3
butt blaster 50#/55# 10/leg 3
calves seated 90# 12/3 (too heavy-assisted throughout)
Crunches 200
leg lifts, bicycles, obliques crunches, etc - 100
When finished with weights, I did 20 minutes cardio on stairclimber.
I felt I pushed myself for high weights on the legs. I also felt really low on energy by the time I did cardio. Stayed on level 2 for most of the 20 minutes. Did abt 5 minutes on level 1. Felt like it was a struggle. Not sure if it's because I was eating less.
Weight is currently same, 162. I actually crept back up to 163 by Weds, then back down to 162 by Thurs & Friday. Might be PMS related as well. That's it for now.

First day on IntraXCell
Yesterday was my first day on the IntraXCell. I took 3 capsules about 15 minutes prior to working out. I felt a little tingling on my shoulders within about 5 minutes. I also noticed slight tingling on my forearms and even my face about 10 minutes later. Very slight. It was not at all uncomfortable. After workout I took the other 3 capsules and again noticed tingling in my arms. Very light, not uncomfortable at all.
7/24/07
Legs
hacksquats 80# 15 3
legpress 90# 15 3 (last 5 reps assisted)
quad extensions 80# 12/15 1/2
abductor 180# 12 3
adducter 90#/100# 15/20 1/2
butt blaster 55# 12/per leg 3
calves seated 45# 20/30 1/2
Crunches 100 2 sets
reverse crunches 100
After weights, I did 20 minutes cardio on stairclimber. Started at level 4, and spent 15 minutes on level 3 & 2.
I also felt somewhat low on energy by the time I did cardio. Perhaps the leg workout makes it tougher.
Food:
Bfast: nonfat cappuccino, 1/2 scone, 1/3 pineapple muffin
Lunch: nonfat tuna salad, w/lo fat crackers, 100 cal cookies
mid afternoon: diet coke, chips
post workout: 1 glass white wine, (2) 100 cal crackers
Could've done better with the food, but was very happy the despite this my weight this am is 161.8 (down - yeah!)

cable pressdowns 30# 15/3

7/30/07
7/30/07
Legs
hacksquats 90# 12 3
legpress 90# 15 31 (last 5 reps assisted on last set only)
quad extensions 90# 15/12 1/2
abductor 180# 12 3
adducter 100# 20 3
butt blaster 55# 12/leg 3
calves seated 70# 15/20 2/1
When finished with weights, I did 20 minutes cardio on stairclimber. Took IntraXCell about 15 minutes prior to workout & really noticed it this time. While doing leg presses & hack squats my face was really prickly, as were shoulders, neck. It was bordering on uncomfortable for between reps. Not bad, but obviously creating sensation. Legs were tough, as they usually are for me. I did increase most of the weights. I felt kinda sick as I progressed through them & wasn't sure I would even do cardio. It was sortof an upset stomach, sorta PMS cramp feeling. I decided to give cardio a try anyway, and glad I did. I made it thru 20 minutes on measly level 2 the entire time. I took the IntraXcell about 30 minutes after workout and didn't notice anything at this point.
Food:
Bfast: Nonfat capp, bagel with cream cheese
Lunch: 1/2 tostada salad, 1 sugar free chocolate
Dinner: skipped
Late: 1 small glass white wine
2 liters of water
I did lose weight by this morning. I'm at 161.6 now. Seeing how close I am to the 150's makes me really want to push it. I wasn't craving food yesterday. I was hungry at night, but not insane. And I do feel like my restaurant trip on Sunday did get that out of my system, at least for now.

Took a steel edge shake about 15 minutes before workout.
Took the IntraXcell about 15 minutes before workout & felt the tingling on front of arms, shoulders face. Mild. Took the other 3 capsules about 5 minutes after workout.
Energy was good & weights or reps increased slightly. Legs are sore from prior days workout & absolutely feel this in quads, hams, glutes, inner & outer thighs.
Food:
Bfast: nonfat capp, bagel & cream cheese, bite of pecan roll
lunch: skipped
afternoon: steel edge shake
post workout: protein bar
dinner (5:30pm): 3 oz tuna steak, 1/2 c grilled bellpepper onions & garlic, 2 T chopped tomato, diet popsicle (10 cal)
Was hungry throughout evening and anxious to check scale in the morning. I was surprised that I weighed 162 this morning despite the evening fast and so little food yesterday. Arghhhh.

Glad to hear you're strength is going up! How is the intensity of your workouts? Has it changed since you started taking IXL/SE?

Dinner: 3 oz fish, grilled veggies
2 liters of water

I would say so. It's slight, but then, I wasn't working out really seriously or tracking the amounts lifted before. As for cardio type workout, I do feel overall I could push it more & perhaps need to add some classes back into my routine to push and go longer on the cardio side.
