Are you supposed to bring your dumbells together?

At the top of the db press, do your dumbells come together or just go straight up?

bring them straight up and make sure you squeeze your pecs then slowly lower them back down. the best advice i can give you is try to make the lowering portion slower than the raising, this will put more stress on your pecs. Good luck

If they're big enough, they'll touch together when you put them straight up anyway

there is suppose to be as little stress on the pecs as possible. Its a shoulder excercise and actually, the STRICT proper form calls for making sure the chest does not rise when bringing the DB's up. Of course if everyone followed that form we'd all be pressing 5lbs.

    Thanks guys.

All the people at my gym bring them together, but it never felt "natural" for me to do it that way. Just making sure I am doing it right!

Straight up. Don't twist or push them together. Any please don't be that guy who clangs them together on each rep. I don't really want to listen to that.

    bd pressing

i think that it depends on witch way fells better. if u get a better pump by pressing strait up instead of bringing them together than do it that way or vise versa but when i do them i press strait up then turn them so that my palms are faceing inward i get a crazy pump this way and i can squeeze my pecs real hard this way

I always wondered why people rotate them at the top.
When I am doing reps of 6, I just can't imagine ALSO having to worry about rotating them.
But, it burns the pecs up better, eh?

I personally touch them, but straight up is fine. Either way.

Yes, some people rotate them, and nothing wrong with that, either. That's is the beauty of using DBs - more of a full ROM, you are working stabilizers and if you rotate them you get a little more out of it = development.
