Sleep Deprivation
Hey guys. This might be a tad bit too long but.. Just wanting an opinion here, or wondering if anyone has ever experienced simular symptoms.
And I know the first reaction would be something smart like "Go see a damn doctor" lol, well I have and no luck. We are ALL only human, so I think it would be helpful to ask if anyone else has ever experienced anything bizarre from sleep deprivation.
I have developed some strange symptoms over a period of time. I had a blood test and a CT Scan, and all was fine. I used to take the anti-depressant Citalopram (which is an SSRI) and that didn't even help.. so I don't know. Does anyone think it is possible that severe LACK OF SLEEP (and I mean severe..) can possibly cause / worsen the following symptoms:
- Overall anxiety (strongly concerned)
- Anxiety and panic attacks (Worse around people. and even family / close friends..)
- Depression
- Fasciculations (Muscle twitching all over body - strongly concerned )
- "Popping" feeling of muscles.. (Almost like a bubble, best I can descibe)
- Chills, when trying to fall asleep
- Sensitivty to things such as Sugar, Caffeine, Over the counter medicine (An Anti-histamine literally provoked an anxiety attack and phychosis, when I previously had to take it, and this NEVER happened)
- Paranoia
- Dizziness
- Rapid mood changes
- Jaw clenching, tension in face, sometimes teeth grinding
- Feeling dehydrated even after drinking lots of water and liquids
- Unable to feel drowsy anymore, even days without sleep..
- Mild tingling sensation throughout body
- Poor digestion
- Forgetfulness and feeling confused
- Blurrier vision
- Food cravings even shortly after eating or when not physically hungry
- Feeling very irritable, hostile sometimes
- No pleasure in anything I used to enjoy
- Dry eyes
- Never wanting to do anything and difficulty doing simple things, such as brushing my hair, lol.
- I will wake up every few hours and not be able to fall back asleep
- Short temper and attention span
- Feeling like I'm unable to build muscle no matter how hard I work or how much I eat / drink. Before, My muscles would feel tighter and I would feel great, but now they'll feel like that for a few minutes then feel almost like they are wasting away, and this is making me lose my motivation and happiness.
- Hard time talking, like stuttering or slurring my words often, or even wanting to talk, I'm socially withdrawn
- Senses feel slightly different (including taste)
- Overall, Feeling some kind of detachment.. almost like I'm not the same anymore!
Well, the highlights would have to be the anxiety and muscle issues. Well, hopefully it's nothing serious and ONLY sleep deprivation.. it would ease my stress ALOT knowing that.
IS IT POSSIBLE FROM NOT GETTING ENOUGH SLEEP?

Yes, lack of sleep will exacerbate all of those problems. Try the doc for some Ambien. They will usually hook you up with a month or two to get your sleep back on track. I had to do this to get my circadian rhythms back to normal after working nights for a long time. Had the same symptoms as you with the same bull**** drug gamut: Celexa, Paxil, Prozac, **** all that bull****.

"IS IT POSSIBLE FROM NOT GETTING ENOUGH SLEEP?"
Uh, you might want to let us know how much sleep you're getting before asking.

I am starting to get scared that it's something serious.

Seems like you just ripped it off Wikipedia....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_deprivation
Most of those symptoms are listed so yes, get some dam sleep. Why would you need blood test and a CT Scans? None of those symptoms are even that bad. You sound very high maintnece.

Yes. Have you tried melatonin? It's great for helping to reset your sleep cycle.

Severe sleep depression that would lead to problems like you describe would be something like staying awake for several days straight marching in the cold with a pack on your back and 1-2 hours of sleep a night.
I am guessing if you are "only" spending 7 and a half hours a night in bed as opposed to the recommended 8, that you are not suffering from deprivation.
Crystal Meth might be your problem though.
Are you a hypochondriac? You seem to have done extensive analysis of your problem.

spoon pic needed IMO
are you really 5'0" and 95 lbs? Yeesh that's tiny. I'm not big and I'm twice that weight.
sounds like nervousness and hypochondria, which probably add to your problems with sleeping and then add to your symptoms (but I'm not a doctor).

The only way I was able to lose weight in the past, was restrictive eating, which prevented me from being able to gain muscle. Also, in the past, I used to have large amounts of caffeine and sugar, to help socially and feel more alive, because I always feel sluggish. That isn't the way to live. Currently, I have serious anxiety and barely leave the house ever. It got so bad that I'm not in school right now, along with other reasonsWTF?. I want to feel good again, so I can hopefully return to school in September. I don't know where to start. I'm hoping this site will be able to help me continue with my life again! x0x It's hilarious how noone pays attention to you until you come back the next year with blonde hair, a dark tan, a fit bod, and basically looking totally different.. thats low, I'm still the same person at heart, and always will be. x0x I spend pretty much everyday hoping to make some kind of difference. The **** that people do to each other is ridiculous. Like I don't even know where to start. I'm proof that people focus to much on whats on the outside rather than inside. My looks are quite deceiving. Before I changed my look, growing up was horrable, I have no good childhood memories because of other people. The only memories I have are terrifying. Now that I look different, people actually listen to what I have to say. It's insanely pathetic. x0x Not now, but when everything is stable, I want to be a model. It has always been my dream, and I'll do whatever it takes to achieve that goal."

have you ever considered that I may be an incredibly hot, supple, impressionable barely legal 18y/o girl who hates clothing and is ready to break out of her shell and experiment in new adventurous ways?
You ask all the girls for spoon pics, but, just sayin' (no opposite of TB7)

*Rolls Eyes* LOL. Shut the **** up, I'm not like that, stop being so low by judging.... I didn't post this to listen to that, I came on here to ask a simple question nicely. If you wanna say something like that, bring it elsewhere to some whore and know she is, not to someone you don't know anything about. There is a reason why I'm posting this!! So **** off man. I'm way younger and still smart enough to know what RESPECT is.
Anyways, to answer some of you about -exactly- how much sleep I get.. FEW HOURS everyday and not be able to go back to bed... But just to keep it in general and on TOPIC here.... the question is more... can any kind of sleep deprivation cause weird ass symptoms, lol..
