If you're not sore after your workout?

Ok. I'm trying to settle an argument. What if you're not sore after a workout?

    Thanks for all the replies!

    Then you're either:

not working hard enough (prob not)

or used to the workload. (probably)

    Wrong...

If you are talking about the soreness you get a day or two after you train (lets say chest).. its not that you are not working out hard enough because for all we kknow you are doing the best YOU can.. getting used to the workout can only happen if you are doing the exact same routine, excercise for 1-2 months straight..

In addition, just because you may not feel your tri's..or bi's.. or any muscle a day or two, or even three doesnt mean u did something wrong.

You dont necessarily need to feel sore or aching to know you are having good progress..

But do keep your muscles guessing...switch up routines... excercises...here and there...

if you're not sore after your workout...you've provided your body with adequate nourishment and rest to repair damaged muscle tissues.

Try not eating after working out or getting drunk the night after lifting and see how your muscles feel...

If you are not sore, then you have not done too much work - this may mean its just enough or too little and you will most probably need less time to recover in order to do the same amount of work (or more of it).

In the big picture, judging your progress by how sore are you after workout usually leads to wrong conclusions.

DOMS is caused by the inflammatory response by your body. If your body is not adequately conditioned to the training your doing, then your body will respond by drawing water to the damaged body part. This causes increase pain sensitivity otherwise know as muscle soreness. The more conditioned you are to your training then you are less likely to experience DOMS.
The point is you don't need to be sore to get results.

Thank God there is someone sane posting in this thread.

    Also, see Fomber's comments above.

Soreness does not equate to anything but soreness.

After a few months I stopped being sore after my workouts.
I still grow without the soreness.

My conclusion is soreness is not needed for growth.
