well seeing as you married her they are YOUR family as well. There is not much you can do, its not as if you can marry her (knowing her family) have a kid with her (knowing her family) and suddenly not want anything to do with them. Just be polite, firm and keep your distance. If you want marital problems you can start putting all kinds of pressure on your wife though. It would probably be better to go for slow and steady dinstancing yourself from her family and slowly pull her with you.

You know I've been to Zapata and lemme tell you I feel sorry for you. That place is a big dump. Nothing like Mcallen/Edinburg that is for sure. It's all ranch and dirt out there. Plus you got Laredo nearby and that place is a mess as well. I am not surprised by this. Good luck.
