should i left weights when playing basketball ? does it really throw off your shot ? Im a post player

when i played b-ball last year my free throw % was 38 and now this year my free throw is 65 % and i havent worked out at all this season so should i start lifting weight again i just dont want my shot to go im hitting 3 pointers this year better then last year i can shot from where ever i want inside of the 3 point line my shot keeps getting better every time i go out and play so should i start lifting wieghts again ?

I am going to lean towards no. Shooting is a skill, it does not necessarily have to do with strength. I don't think people start lifting during the summer and discover they can't shoot come winter. I think that as long as you do not develop any massive imbalances (weak external vs strong internal rotators etc.), and work on your shot during this, you will not lose your "shot". You should be prepared to make alterations to your shot as you make gains in strength and muscle. I remember having to make a bit of an adjustment with my swing (in baseball) after I had been lifting during the offseason, but it took a week max to adjust, and I was back to my old self, if not stronger.
