Arrow REST AND RECOVERY after the Football Season

    hey guys

unfortunately, my football season ended on saturday in an unexpected loss in the first round of the playoffs. my body is exhausted from the demands of the season; those of you who play football know exactly what i am referring to.

i am going to take the next week off from weightlifting, but my real question is: should i take a second week off also?

i am not sure if my body needs two weeks off after the season or if one week will suffice.

    thanks in advance,
    matt

It really depends on how bad you are fatigued and bruised from the season. A week off will do you good. If you feel you need more time, then it doesn't hurt to take it. Better to do nothing for a week now then 2 months from now and be overtrained and out for longer. Slowly work back into things and be ready for the full off-season coming up.

    why not two?

take a week off and see how you feel, if still you are fatigued that feel free to take a second week off. Just be sure to use your time wisely to plan out your off season routine

Well if you are really banged up, a week is fine (do nothing, just heal) and ill say 2 also, just during that second week you should be on the bike maybe treadmill to get the blood going, and if u feel like, start anatomical adaptation phase.

I would say design a recovery phase workout program for yourself. Nothing to taxing on the body but just enough to maintain what you have and get you ready to put on mass or whatever.
