A rule of thumb to start with to determine your calorie needs is to multiply your weight by 15 to maintain, 18 to gain, and 13 or so to lose. This rule will vary depending upon your metabolism, age, and genetic structure, but it's somewhere to start with anyway.
Start with a lower calorie intake level or do more calorie burning "work' to lose weight, or better yet, a combination of the two. Give it at least a week or two and see what your results are. You should shoot for only 1-2 pounds per week tops. Anymore then that, and you're losing serious muscle mass. If you don't lose any weight, lower the calories a bit more or increase cardio.
The big rule to remember that so many people don't take into account is to lower your calories as your weight is dropping. Remember that rule of thumb to determine your base calorie rate is base upon your weight, and if you're losing weight steadily, you should also be dropping calories steadily.
