Cheat meal during contest prep
I was wondering if any of you guys have a cheat meal during your contest prep? Like once every couple weeks or whatever to help stay sane.

some people swear by cheat meals they say it shocks your body. in my contest prep i wasnt given any. then i listened to someone and i swear i wish i didnt do it bc my body did not react the way i wanted it to. i gained like 3 lbs of water over night. (i ate sushi- minus the soy sauce)
ive heard other people cheat on things like whole wheat pancakes with normal syrup, a burger no fries, peanut butter and rice cakes it all depends on what your coach tells you. just be careful, and if you are really close to your contest date i wouldnt do it.. mean 6 weeks or less

I back off all cheat meals @ approx. 10 weeks out. Otherwise, I had 1 cheat meal every Sunday.

For contest prep, negative. I didn't do a cheat meal for 12 weeks straight. You dont want to do a show to look back thinking "If only I didn't eat that...."
You want to come in looking your best having no regrets !

Every sunday until three weeks out is not a cheat meal, but a cheat day.

I consider my high carb days cheat meals...If sanity is in question I would say "yes" have a small cheat meal like air popped pop corn with spray butter (zero cals).
My thing is, you don't want to hate the sport, you'll get better as time goes on, find healthy cheats, none of that junk like fries, snickers, etc....

my cheat days would be something like eating sushi with my girlfriend or something that is high in carbs that usually I can't or won't eat in a normal day.

think about this
You can have a cheat meal once every week, but think about the competition the guy who might hold the first place trophy next to you might not have!
dont do it!

Cheat meals are "ok" in the beginning, i prefer a controlled refeed. But if you keep your calories under control for the cheat meal then they are not as bad as some of you are making them out to be, they can actually be benificial.

It depends on your diet. I had carbs in my last prep, so there was no need for a cheat meal. I don't have carbs in this prep, but I have a mandatory weekly cheat meal.

I cheated about twice a week until I was four weeks out, and I "won" so....
