Intermittent Fasters, critique my diet
First of all, I started back in August at 135lbs. Went on Starting Strength and the GOMAD/eat everything you see diet. My strength went through the roof. So did my muscle. But also fat! Told myself I would never do that again! Went from 135 to 175 in 3.5 months. Since then been dieting down, made it to 157 so far. Hoping to be sub 10% bf at 150lbs, but may have to go lower. I am only a 5'5" manlet by the way.
Here is the progress, August(135lbs) to October(175lbs) to December(162lbs)
And now here I am today, at 157-158lbs
I start my fast at 7pm.
Wake up, drink a lot of water.
Get to gym around 11am.
Walk fasted on incline treadmill for 20min.
Drink BCAAs plus supplements.
Workout for about an hour.
Walk on incline treadmill another 20min.
Drink 50/50 pro/carb drink.
Eat at about 1-2pm, Chicken, honey, either rice or sweet potato.
Drink protein shake after.
Eat again at night around 6pm, no carbs, steak and salad or veggies. Or hamburger w/ cheese no bun and veggies.
Drink protein shake after.
Rinse repeat.
On my rest days(only 2 days a week), I do the same except no carbs all day.
You think it is better to have those carbs after my workouts? Or would it be better to do high carb days, and no carb days?
I was doing 1 high carb day followed by 3 no carb days. But figured this would help keep/build muscle?
Losing around 1lb per week now. Really want a 6 pack for the first time in my life. Always had that small layer of fat covering.

I'm excited to give IF a go. I'm so sick of the 6 meals a day thing. It doesn't seem to be really working for me anyway. I'm ready for something different.
I will be doing the fasted morning WO's so I've ordered up some BCAA's from here. Problem is I won't get em for almost 2weeks.
For the past 2 days I've been doing a trial run. I have whey first thing and then again around 9-10am to get used to not eating.
I want to keep going on this so is it better to lose the Whey (comes to 300cal total for 2 servings) and have nothing or keep the Whey?
I've read the first 20 pages of this massive thread and will continue to read more.

Try keeping carbs to ONLY PWO. Low carbs on ALL other meals throughout the week.
Go for high intensity compound lifts rather than long boring cardio, you will get the benefit of added enjoyment and the possibility of building strength and losing fat at the same time, as martin recommends.

IF + Pulse feast; Would this work with isolate / amino tabs?
Don't know if I am allowed to post this link here, it's the article that's of interest and not the product.
Anyway, new article this week:
http://www.t-nation.com/free_online_...he_pulse_feast
Not interested in expensive products, but very interested in your thoughts about using high quality isolate (for example ON Whey Gold Standard), or mega-doses full spectrum amino tabs (or powder), to create these "pulses", and how it would possibly impair on the beneficial effect we like from IF?
Isolate would brake the fasting, so would amino tabs but not nearly to the extent isolate would. How about hydrolized whey?
On mega-dose amino tabs I am thinking 15-20g, would be expensive but probably still cheaper than hydrolized whey.

Hey guys bout to start if. Just a couple questions. If you could please help.
I get up and start working out at 5.am I use n.o. xplode for energy through the workout and to have some for my physical job. Will that and bcaa be okay to take together?
Also I noticed it seems taking 30 grams of bcaa every workout day could get expensive any other alternative?
I was just going to start my eating at 5am, but would have to finish at 1pm and would probably be a long time to go starving before bed?
Also I am trying to bulk and I am on the 5x5 sl program, will this work?
This program makes me hungry enough and takes a lot of energy will I have enough energy to work?
anyone have experience with early morning workout and physical job afterwards on if?
Also do you need to take anything bcaa or anything for non workout days?
ThanksLast edited by spartakis; 01-15-2011 at 06:06 PM.

I love my Foreman. Best way to clean it:
As soon as you're done cooking, put 3 wet paper towels on the grill, close it, and unplug. The steam will loosen up all the crap. Come back when you're done eating, take off the paper towels, and everything wipes off easy.

I can save you some money for BCAAs if you want, ditch the No-Explode and buy caffeine pills and Micronized creatine (and will last forever and a day), which is the only creatine that has the MOST research backing it. And if you want some BA to, just so yoy get that tingley feeling that makes it seem like it works. That's pretty much no-xplode.
Then, with the money you save get some XTend, if you'd like, cheaper than no-explode and delicious.
Actually, BA combined with creatine has shown lots of promise but I doubt it will make it break your body.

I also workout a 5 a.m and then I work a 12 hour shift after the workout. You have more energy while fasting not less. Im not going to lie, its going to take you a good week to really get into the groove before you feel comfortable. On the subject of preworkouts the dude above me is right, I take ON amino energy and ON flavored BCAA. I also only take around 7 grams at a time.
One thing to thing about with eating alearly.is that it will.exclude.you.from nearly.all.social events. That my reason that I eat from 1-9I WILL NOT LET MY MIND DESTROY MY DESTINATION. I CAN REACH MY GOALS AND I WILL.

^^ the guy wants to make some money so this is something he only talks about with his clients.
I remember when I first read about IF he mentioned his book would be finished by the end of the year, which was in 2009. Can't blame the guy though, you better do it right the first time.Iron, sometimes it sets my teeth on edge, other times it helps me control the chaos.
