who the f*ck cares about lions
even if u dont believe in the fast doing anything
3 meals a day vs 6 is the same at the end of the day, provided ur macros are the same
and let me tell you, its ALOT easier to get ur macros in and not over eat with 3 meals vs 6

IF-wise, it is all about what is easier for you.
meal number wise (assuming no IF) http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showpo...postcount=3103

Yea, lions are definitely not partial to tiny meals.
I think we need to factor in the fact that there are no refrigerators in the African wilderness. Carnivores eat a ton in part because that dead deer will be decaying by tomorrow night and being picked apart by scavangers.
Also, we're not lions. Or cavemen. If we were, we wouldn't be analyzing what we eat and nitpicking everything. You cannot make a man by standing a sheep on its hind legs. But by standing a flock of sheep in that position you can make a crowd of men.

Fat storage can happen simultaneously with glycogen synthesis. However, if caloric requirements are in check this won't really affect long term fat gains.
In fact, Energy storage/release happens many times per day from fat cells. Think of adipose as a flexible resevoir of energy that can be dipped into to dampen hunger in between meals.

But that bears no relevance to the bodybuilding subculture. What we do here has nothing to do with survival out in the wilderness. I really don't understand why anybody ever brought that up as an argument for what we should eat to get lean.
There are primitive tribes still living out in the wild, living the same life that their ancestors lived. THEY LOOK NOTHING LIKE BODYBUILDERS. They're either scrawny from food scarcities or fat from overfeeding. Running after animals (ie, cardio) doesn't do wonders for muscularity, apparently. I don't see what lessons we can take from our ancestors, other than avoiding what they did.
As for IF, I think anecdotal evidence is currently our best resource. I don't think there are proper scientific studies done on wannabe bodybuilders using IF to cut/bulk; its always rats or fat, older women. You cannot make a man by standing a sheep on its hind legs. Just bad for digestion
Small pre workout meal, huge post workout, then followed by like normal meal before bed is usual IF thing
I have yet to try this out...just circumstances will not allow it lately
Although I really want to just for its ease.

I've been thinking about this for some time now, and I'm not sure there's any point to post workout food. I mean, quick-digesting whey is one thing, but what about normal food? What if you don't use supplements?
Whole foods take time to digest, so eating a can of tuna fish post workout means that you still won't get those amino acids in your blood for hours. Wouldn't it make most sense just to eat your oats and chicken breast a while before you exercise, so that the sugars and amino acids will have been released from the food in time for your muscles to use them?
Is the rate of digestion affected by the volume of food you ingest? If so, eating one giant, protein-rich meal and working out an hour or two later could be alright for some people. They'll slowly digest all that stuff, keeping a steady stream of amino acids in their blood all night long. Then again, I don't really know the effect that volume has on digestion. You cannot make a man by standing a sheep on its hind legs.
