ever bump your toe?
I was returning from the bathroom to my bed to sleep a little longer early this morning and I stubbed my toe hard on something (I think the bed, was still sleepy).
It crazy hurt, and after a minute I reached down to feel it, which hurt worse, but I felt it and it was dislocated! the toe right next to the big toe, index toe I guess, it was right out of it's socket, thought it was broke at first. So I of course woke my wife up and said "feel this!" that was funny but hurt when she felt it.
Manned up and pulled hard straight and pushed it back in, let me say: not the best way to start your day, lol.
Anyhow, all better now, just felt like sharing this cause it was pretty odd!

I broke mine something fierce just like that, turned my foot purple on top and on bottom.
I walked funny to compensate for the pain and would up having sore muscles as a result.
Weird huh?

Dang! At least you now know that the worst thing that'll happen to you today has already happened.

I think W.C. Fields is credited with this quote: "I feel sorry for people who don't drink, because when they wake up in the morning, that's the best they are going to feel all damn day".
So look on the bright side, the day will only get better from here.

Ah yes, an early morning rousing of a 2-year old child will have penalties
That is why I always sneak as quietly as possible out of the house in the AM. Our 3-year old is hell on wheels, so I try to give him as much sleeping time as possible for my wife's sake.

I still have nightmares about the case of turf toe I had in high school during football season. I would hit the toe or someone would kick it on about every third play. The pain went all the way to the bone as they say.
It sure was hard standing on the line trying to psyche out the guy in front of you with tears on your cheeks.

A couple of years ago I dislocated my little toe, when I was in Maui. How you ask? I was helping my wife, who is very good, practice Muay Thai. She and the doorjam blocked my kick. At least I could wear flip flops for a month...LOL

A while back I was putting ice in a glass and somehow broke the entire bottom off the glass. It dropped and cut the end of my "index" toe completely off except one littl flap of skin. I mean halfway down the nail was GONE. You could flip it completely off to the side and all that was holding it was the skin...I grabbed some super glue and glued it back together and taped it up...good as new.

That's hardcore.. that glue stings..
Gashed my hand once and got the girlfriend to stitch it with needle and thread. I complained about how bad her sewing was, so she unpicked it and glued it. Boy.... did that sting.

For once in my life, I'd like to break a bone doing something bold and exciting like taming a lion or figting off a tiger shark. Instead, I tend to break my bones while doing something mundane...
I was visiting a friend of mine in New Jersey and he invited me to attend his aikido class. I had never done aidido before but was doing doing OK till it was time for me to pivot on my right foot. My foot pivoted, but my little toe stayed put and made a little -*snap*- noise. I applied the standard broken toe repair which is to tape the broken toe to the nearest non-broken toe.

This whole thread reminds me of the SNL skit when they would make up injuries...like...Oh, the other day I was cutting my upper lip with a razor blade...ouch, then I squeezed a fresh lemon into it...yeah, then poured salt on it...oooh, I hate it when that happens.

Well... there was only about 20 minutes to the clock went off anyhow, and since I woke the two year old up and thus my wife got up... I laid there for a couple minutes until my toe felt vaguely normal and washed up and snuck downstairs to my home office to work and avoided my angry wife

Yes! Stubbed my toe while picking up my son and running to the restroom because he was about to throw up. Hit the same to "index toe" and broke it. Needless to say, I ended up having to take him to emergency (high fever that wouldn't break and possible dehydration), and I had an x-ray of my foot. When the doctor came in and asked, "who am I seeing today?" and I replied both of us he looked very surprised

If I have to have an injury, I too would like to finally get hurt doing something brave rather than something silly. I once broke my toes in an exercise mat ( the interlocking type) that we had left out when I was running in the living room with the lights out to get to the phone so as not to wake the kids up. We were just heading up to sleep and had already turned out the lights, oops. The sad thing is a Maui vacation was two weeks later. Did not let it slow me down. Flippers for snorkling made great splints for the toes. I just had to snorkle all day.

how about this one for a winner:
at the old house, my sliding glass door led to the Florida room, wife wanted a rattan couch and tables in stuff to be placed in there. Went shopping saw the set, wife:I love it! husband(reality):will never fit! wife:sure it will
husband nly if I take off the sliding glass door, wife:there you go!
sales clerk:will that be cash or chage?
Long story short, have the sliding glass door of its railing, there is a 10inch drop from rail to Florida room ground floor.
Husband:honey hold this for 1 sec while I go get a better grip so I can lift door and set aside. Do you got it?
Wife:sure do
well I let go and so does she, door drops on my right foot and breaks 3 toes in 1 pop. Luckily door did'nt shatter, due to my toes cushioning the blow. By the way, we were living in the Fla Keys at the time, so of course I was'nt wearing shoes, just flip flops.

I hate when you first hit it and have to wait for the pain to come on, which is does big time, and then subsides. What really sucks is have the pain come on and you stand/ sit there waiting for the pain to start to subside .... and it doesn't! It just keeps getting worse and worse! I slipped at the top of the stairs once and took a swan dive to the bottom of the staircase, landing on my little toe (pinky toe) and broke it. Unbelievable pain. Pain just kept coming and coming.
