The nice thing about caffeine pills is you don't have to worry about added sugars found in some energy drinks (I realize you can get sugar free). However, some people might respond better to the added ingredients in energy drinks (taurine, etc). As jules said, "different strokes for different folks".

I've used caff. pills in the past and they provide good, simple energy. Lately I've been buying BSN endosush at my gym before I workout. The profile is here:

    EndoRush Proprietary Matrix 4,045mg

    NOX (Endurance & Performance) Fusion?
L-Arginine AKG, Citrulline Malate, L-Citrulline AKG, L-Histidine AKG, RC-NOS (Rutaecarpine (95%), Gynostemma Pentaphyllum (95% Gypenosides)

    Ener-Tropic (Energy & Nootropic) Rush?
L-Tyrosine, L-Tyrosine AKG, Taurine, Glucuronolactone, Methylxanthine, Blend (Caffeine Anhydrous and Caffeine AKG), Vinpocetine 99%, Vincamine 99%, Vinburnine 99%

    Glycerol Hydrating Polymers?
Potassium Glycerophosphate, Magnesium Glycerophosphate, Glycerol Stearate

    Phospho-Electrolyte Replacers?
Di-Calcium Phosphate, Magnesium Oxide, Di-Potassium Phosphate, Di-Sodium Phosphate

This stuff really gets you pumped up big time, especially with some Storm, Glycergrow and extend.

BSN Endorush is the sh....it! Its what an energy drink should be. It'll keep your ass buzzing for a while. When using for workout purposes though, I generally drink a little bit pre, and sip on it during my workout. Good call JimmyP.

Energy drinks are superior because they contain caffeine plus other ingredients. I would go with a sugar free version and I would NOT use them daily.

Redline extreme is the strongest one that I have tried so far.

Caffeine pills are WAY cheaper, but i'd choose energy drinks.

Redbull has a lot of sugar. SO its a no go for me. I have taken a real liking towards "Spike" off the top of my head it has 300mg of caffeine, 1500 mcg of B12. Its slightly carbonated and tastes great! This one gets me going! I feel like that i can do things like htat "Rip things in half" commercial. It gets me goin!

I also like redline extreme. It has beta alanine in it, but doesn't say the amount of caffeine. It doesn't get me going as much as Spike, but its pretty good.

I've never used any for pre workout, but i did use them for a few road trips and they worked nicely.

x2, Speed Stack and on a lesser note, Ripped Force are both great for me too. Endorush is the champ of energy drinks for me, I think it owns Redline Extreme. Caffeine pills are good for a quick pick me, super cheap, and you can up the dose if you want. I will however take a spoon full of Redline concentrated over anything.
