Ugh what an idiot.....
Protein powder is NO different to consuming chicken breast, tuna etc etc. So would you say to someone, oh no, don't eat that 150g of chicken, it will strain your kidneys???
Everything in moderation. Obviously consuming an excess of ANY particular nutrient may cause health issues e.g. bloating, but there has been no proven link between protein consumption and kidney damage.

his wrong, there has been no studies proving that claim, too much protein doesnt put strain on youre kidney, if you take too much protein, then the excess protein just wont be absorbed(you can absorb around 45-60g per meal in 1hr at the most on average).

the ONLY thing i've ever read that relates protein to kidney problems are those people with pre-existing kidney problems. I've not read one article etc, showing how protein strains your kidneys. total bunk.

I guess it just goes to show that owning a gym (and a few trophies) DOESNT make you an expert, lol!

SO SO true. You should see goddessamazon's blog, i forgot which one it was. when she conferred w/a bodybuilder about which she should consider (bb or figure). His response was so idoitic i wanted to fly down to Atlanta and slap him myself.

Yup. This is a common misconception that a high protein intake will somehow damage your kidneys. One of my nutrition professors (at Penn State.. so she knows her stuff), recently taught us that there is absolutely no link.

hey vicky. There are alot of crap misconceptions that go around the bodybuilding community. There are alot of people or bodybuilder's (not all there are alot of smart cookies out there too) that will often use just surface anatomy or a generalised approach to training. Such as the theory of if you see it moving it MUST be working, BUT if you look at the actual anatomy you will find it is actually a synergist and the activity that it is performing is complete crap!! Same applies to the protien just because a massive man/woman says it is true it must be, so through out the ages it has been handed down from one large man to another large man, and so on and so forth with little reasearch into the subject. Similar to if you pull a face and the wind changes you are screwed (i have pulled many faces with changing winds and non have yet to stick) it is just complete crap but a great scare tactic for little kids. If you are wanting further assistance or reading into this i could have a look round for some medical journal articles on the matter is your really freaked out by it. But basically as people have said, in moderation it is fine, just remember to not sit down with a whole tub , a spoon and 2lt of milk and go for it.
sorry about the long winded reply but one by one i hope to get rid of these wives tales.
keep up the great work because your looking great.

ha! thanx again for the last 2 comments, I surely imagine a professor is a tad more 'in the know' than my gym 'expert' (lol)
Thanx for offering to find out more for me-but, I trust your opinions anyway.
I am not intending to devour the whole tub by the way!!!!
and I hear you with the 'crap' !!!!
Its insane how much conflicting advice I hear.
