    Parabody Vs Body Solid

I’m about to buy 3 pieces of equipment, these are basically the only options I have where I am located so which are better?

    Leg press / hack squat
    Body solid
    http://www.bodysolid.com/BSStrength/.../WLPH1100.html
    parabody
    http://us.home.lifefitness.com/content.cfm/hipsled

    VKR station
    Body solid
    http://www.bodysolid.com/BSStrength/...on/WVKR82.html
    parabody
    http://us.home.lifefitness.com/conte...eeraisechindip

    Seated calf raise
    Body solid
    http://www.bodysolid.com/BSStrength/...y/WSCR349.html
    parabody
    http://us.home.lifefitness.com/conte...agecalfstation

Please help me out as this is an expensive buy and I’m finding it hard to see them without ordering. Thanks…

i'd go with the parabody. i don't see anything that justifies the like 30% more all the bodysolid stuff costs you.

Any way you can try them both out and see e.g. which you like the feel of better, which seems more solid, etc.?

agreed. they look the same. but they may not feel the same. both brands are good companies. If you can't decide though, i'd go with bodysolid because their warranty on upholstery is better (lifetime vs 3 yrs i think)

I hope to be able to see them all before making a decision, but no shops have these products on display, you have to order them. So I'd like as much feedback as I can get, I don't care about price or cost, I'm just concerned about quality and which items are more solid.

The Body Solid seated calf machine looks much better. Look at the two pictures and compare the hinge below the seat on each unit. The Body solid is more money though.

The rest of the stuff looks pretty much the same.

The real test is looking at them in person. Poping off the plastic end caps to see what gauge steel they used. Body solid site says they use 11 guage. They don't say what they use on the chin/dip station. I would guess 12. You should find out what each piece was built with.

I can't give you any advice on these pieces unfortunatley because I don't own any of them.

    Good luck.

Do you have a power cage?

    my situation

    The other equipment I have...

bodycraft f609 combination olympic bench, highly recomended
    http://www.bodycraft.com/f609.tpl

    bodycraft f602 dumbell bench
    http://www.bodycraft.com/F602.tpl

    Avanti Power Cage
    http://210.80.150.30/catalog/product...5e12c37053096a

Schwinn 780, 2 stack Corporate Gym
    http://domestic.elitefitness.com.au/session.idc

I also have a treadmill, a bike, fixed dumbells up to 100lb, and a ton of oly and standard weights plus lots of bars and attachments.

I am going to get rid of the multi gym and power cage and am going to get the above items along with a new cage wigh lat attachment.

    Please keep the advise coming.

Quality is about the same. Without getting on them to see which one you are more comfortable with, its a guess. I sell fitness equipment and personally think the quality is identical on those 2 brands. Body solid has a higher list price because they do a lot of online business and offer free shipping a lot of the time. Guess what. The shipping isn't really free, they just build it into the price.

Really I don't think there is a big enough difference between the two to lose much sleep over it since you don't have the option of trying them out.

Body Solid calf uses two bearings like this. http://www.bearing.com/remorder/images/dodgebb.gif

The seated calf machine I have is like the parabody hinges on a bolt with no bearings. Doesn't make a difference to me but I paid $89 us.

Make sure your power cage with lat attachment has enough room in the back for the bench to go far enough back to do inclines. Do a search there is a couple threads on this.

Which calf raise do you have, how smooth is it? What is the weight capacity?
I won't be using the power cage for benching.

I got mine off ebay used (new), don't think the guy ever used it. It looks like the parabody one but the plate load is one vertical post instead of two horizontal posts. I don't know who makes mine, it has no name on it. I'm sure it was made in china but it works fine.

I really like that body solid one it looks real heavy duty. I don't know if it's worth the money though. The first thing I would do is weld a vertical post on it like this. http://newyorkbarbells.tv/1100.gif Think it make it for easier loading.

If you have an extra olympic bar cut off one of the sleeves and weld it on the end.

I have the fortune of having a buddy who carries both
ParaBody is USUALLY quite a bit more expensive, and I'd still buy it, and I have.
I've had the parabody power rack and compared to the bodysolid, it is put together MUCH better. I now have a ParaBody GS-6 and bought it over a less expensive BS setup
The welds are 3/4 or full wrap and finished, the bolts are all high grade, the action and motion are much smoother, the fit is more solid.
The only thing I really like about the BS line is their new Monster rack setup.
If they are the same price, buy the ParaBody for sure.
