Dribbling/Ball handling improvement
For those who have developed their basketball dribbling skills, what do you think is the best way to go about it? I'm a pretty bad dribbler, and not much of a driver at all. I want to impove my dribbling to a decent degree by november.
Should I?...
-Do a dribbling program, like the bone collectors program (specific drills 5 days per week)
-Not-so-specific dribbling done for an hour each day (just working on moves and driving in the gym)
-Dribble two basketballs at once for an hour or so each day (I've heard this helps a lot)
I need to improve my left hand, and improve my driving ability. I would play pick ups all the time, but most kids dont give a **** about basketball at this time in the season.
Reps for good answers...

Your best bet and what i do is an array of dribbling routines including one and two balls...and lots of practice.
It's not heavy until the bar bends.

Shoot, I used to just carry a basketball around with me and just dribble, dribble, and guess what, dribble some more!
As far as your left hand is concerned, just keep practicing with it... I'm right handed, but I used to shoot left handed when I was younger, so I can't really help you there... Just keep practicing... That's what I did when I started shooting with my right hand-my coach used to emphasize to me, "reach into the cookie jar!" Meaning, follow through, as if the cookie jar was on the top shelf...

You got to run up in down the court switching hands and direction every1/4 of the court at near full speed. As far as dribbling in the half court all you need is 2 go two moves one two each side. The best way to work on that is with someone playing light D on you a coach or someone willing to help you out and let you do it 40 or 50 times.

why not all of that? bone collecotr's is just a pretty decent compilation of alot of common ball handling drills. The better basketball dribbling video has 115 ball handling drills.

ok so you can just ignore my name right now, i actually am a good bball player. i found the best way to improve dribbling isnt to nessecarily(brutal spelling), isnt to just go the movements, but visual your in a game, visual your defender. so do driving, dribbling drills pretending that your in a game. like when you do a crossover and drive, visualize the defender back at the three point line picking up his shorts. if you can do drills with all you have mentally and physically you will improve way more if you do drills just physically and no visualisation.
Michael Jordan used to hit spectacular shots that were thought to be impossible that he probably had never shot before, when asked "How do you keep hitting these shots that you've never taken them before", he said something like "I've hit those shots a million times in my head". Visualization will make you THAT much better doing the things these guys said.
