If i lift 250, but am only able to do 3 reps is that my max bench? Or should it be somthing I can do multiple sets of 8-10?

well it depends.....you can have many different maxes...but when most people talk about their max they are talking about their ONE REP MAX. But you can have a 2 REP MAX, 3 REP MAX, 4 REP MAX, and so on and so forth.
