Update as promised!
I just finished my 12-week self-challange working with a local trainer who revamped my weight, cardio and diet program. Am proud to report that my BF dropped from 12% to 8% and I have never felt better, tighter or defined in my life. I will turn 70 next month so there really *is* life for us "Old Farts'!

70 Year Old
Awesome and congrats, man. Many of the guys I see working out at my gym don't look 1/2 as good as you and they are all under 35. Keep youthful!

OK, guys - the speedos go next update!! Sorry about that:-)
But thanks to all who posted a reply and for the kind words. Believe me, we "seniors" can use all the support and motivation we can get. Fitness and nutrition is a way of life for me and I will never quit. I am proud to be part of the unique world of BB and the great folks involved in it.
For those not aware of my non-commercial senior fitness
site, I invite you to take a peak at: http://netconex.com/kenchi
It is a labor of love for me and has been a huge help to my own fitness program.
>im more suprised a 70 year old knows how to use an online message board >very impressive.
I assume that is a compliment? Actually, the faster growing users of computers and the web is us "Old Farts". For what it is worth, I am extremely competent with computers and have studied digital graphic arts in NY and Philly working with PhotoShopCS, etc. I am also active with MicroComputers Users groups, web design, etc. There *is* life after 40!!
Anyway, I *love* this forum and visit often. It is a great source of info but, equally important, is made up of terrific folks with a common interest - regardless of age!
I wish all the very best in reaching their fitness/BB goals.

great job!
i noticed your legs are slightly lacking in musculature compared to your upper body...(not necessarily a bad thing, just made me think that you may be incapable of doing some things, or at least slightly impaired in some way) do you do squats, deadlifts etc (or any other exercise putting intense strain on your back)? this is very interesting to me, ive lived with my grandparents for quite some time, and watching my grandfather who was once a very large strong man transform in the the hunchbacked debilitated person he is today, ive vowed never to let such things happen to me. do your joints give you trouble? injuries often?
just curious, this is definitely something i want to continue into my old age, and with all other things being ok (no genetic problems, arthritis etc) im curious to know how just general aging affects your physical abilities. any info on how your body has changed in that regard over the years would be really cool.
most older people i know cut back on physical activities because in a way it seems they think they are supposed to, but i see no reason, its a vicious cycle.
anyway, you are quite inspiring

i should save that picture and print it as posters to put around my school. most of the people are majorly unfit and lazy. most of them can't even do a single pullup, let alone talk of a six-pack.
you're really impressive.. thanks for inspiring all of us pretty ripped for a 70 year old.. absolutely unbelieveable man.

Congratulations, you look great! You look really good for any age, I looked at the pic and then read the text, I was stunned to find that you are 70 years old. You are an inspiration, you look better than 90% of the people half your age. Keep up the hard work. Regards, Odin

To Jon
Thanks to all who responded to my post - your comments have been very helpful in many ways.
To Jon who made some excellent observatins and asked several questions:
1. No I am not "imapired" in any way (thank goodnes), but you are absolutely correct in noting that my legs are my weakest muscle group. Man, do I ever hate "leg day":-) I don't do heavy squats (knees?) and have been sticking mainly to machines. Because of your post, however, I have made a promise to myself to concentrate on my legs before the next photo update. Thanks for motivating me!
2. As to your questions re: your grandfather and joints, etc. First of all, IMHO, weight-bearing exercise becomes even more importnt as we get older. Many studies have proven that a sound exercsie program (including weights) strengthens bones, lowers BP, increases cardio benefits - and much more. It is extremely important to continue fitness (and, yes, BB) as a "way of life" regardless of age and forever!!!
Of course, it goes without saying, anyone starting a serious fitness program should consult a doctor before commencing.
3. As to joints, etc, the secret is "listening to your bod". Yes, there are days when I lighten up on the weights and there are days (as with all of us) that the joints, ligaments, etc. hurt like hell. I have been fortunate not to have ever had *serious* problems.
>just curious, this is definitely something i want to continue into my old age, >and with all other things being ok (no genetic problems, arthritis etc) im >curious to know how just general aging affects your physical abilities. any i>nfo on how your body has changed in that regard over the years would be >really cool.
By all means DO continue a sound fitness and diet program into "old" (lousy choive of words) age. My friend, age is just a number. Like good wine, we just keep getting better. As for myself, I have NEVER felt/looked better in my life. There is no reason to EVER cut out exercise. As Ann Landers once said "Use it or loose it"! But you are correct in saying most "seniors" sit on their butts and do absolutely nothhing - and they look like it.
>anyway, you are quite inspiring
Jon, I thank you for that. And I wish you the best in obtaining your own fitness goals. Don't quit - EVER! And thanks to you, I plan to hit my legs bigtime!!!
