brown rice question

just wondering - how many cups of cooked brown rice does 1 cup of raw brown rice yeild? Just asking. Thanks in advance.

It should say on the package. It varries a bit from one brand to another depending on the variety of rice they are using. On average I think 1 cup dry makes 3-4 cups cooked.

Reall? I cook rice 2:1 2 parts water to one part rice so just figured a dry cup of rice was 2 cups cooked. Have I been undereating then?

I measure after I cook because it can vary a little bit from brand to brand and whether I use a pan or my rice cooker.

The rice I've got right now, which is Mahatma brand brown rice, 1 cup dry makes 3.5 cooked. But it does varry by brand, there are so many different varieties of rice out there.

thanks. i actually was wondering the same thing. coz i only cook 1 cup and realize how much 1 cup really looked liked when its cooked.
