Question: What role does estrogen play in women losing weight? If we have higher levels of estrogen does it make it more difficult to lose fat? And does being on a birth control pill, or one with a high estrogen dosage, affect a woman's fat loss?

I don't know the answer to this, but I was perscribed loestrin which has the lowest level of estrogen allowed by the FDA. So, if you're looking for something of the sort, ask your doctor about that.

I've been on a birth control medication with higher-than-average estrogen levels for about half a year now, and my weight has gone up despite no significant changes in diet or exercise. I'm not sure if I can completely attribute it to the estrogen however. I've read articles that connect bc pills to change in weight, so I guess it's possible. There are probably some on PubMed that would give you more info.
