sounds like poor positioning across your shoulders.....is the bar resting on the trap muscle rather than bone? A lot of people new to the squat find the correct position is a lot lower than where they thought.

Squats are painful when your thin, stupid little spinal bones are the back get in the way!

Fat people have the benefit of insolation so you can put the bar anywhere thats why I liked squats before

But ya, put it on the traps, it should be at the point of being balanced but if you lower it another inch it would probaly roll down your back :P

Also, make sure everything is nice and tight up there. Pull your shoulder blades down and in, which will naturally get you chest to stick out and give your lower back a slight arch. When you find the perfect placement and keep everything tight, you wont even feel the bar on your back.

Try doing traps 2-3 days before squats so they are a little bigger to aid in cushioning. Also you might want to try to warm up, then go up by only doing one rep to your desired weight. It gets you used to the weight.

Yah, fat people got it going on with squats. Just kidding.

No, you're no pussy. If the bar on your upper back is your problem, then that is not so difficult to overcome. Sounds like you have the strnegth.

Don't be embarrassed to use the "puss-pad." As they say above, work on your traps and over time, you'll be able to wean yourself off the puss-pad.

If anyone bigger than you gives you sh** about it, tell them to just wait two years, and you'll kick all their asses

I can't agree more. I use both the manta ray and the sting ray and they are great. I see no reason why I should suffer for something that is not getting me where I want to go. The pain of the bar adds nothing to the lift so why endure it?

Bingo. I'm not going to be entering any sanctioned powerlifting events and my lifting started for personal satisfaction and aesthetics, so I'll use whatever I need to get the results I want whether it be a Mantaray, gloves, straps, belts, etc.

With all due respect, the pain from the bar isnt going to help anything with the gains on your quads...only hamper it because you arent going as heavy as you should. Bottom line: USE A PAD!!!

If you cant find or get one, wrap a medium length towel around the bar to use it as cushion....thats what I do

Why keep using this fat dude only doing 135 as an example, the pic barely shows useful positioning of the bar anyways.
Just lift the weight, eat the food and sleep the sleep.
If you are doing these three things correctly and still not gaining, THEN complain.

Never underestimate the power of a few extra hours of sleep, I found that to be the culprit lagging me.

p.s. make sure you are eating and lifting correctly :D

bigcalves is still a douche, thankyou friendly people for undouchin what he douched up.
