I want to my doctor today and got a surprise steroid test (dad made me). Anyway, my doctor gave me a lecture and some information on steroids. One thing that stuck out to me was the following:

“Steroids are only legal in the US if you have a doctors prescription. Doctor’s sometimes prescribe steroids for men who cant make enough testosterone naturally or people with certain problems (such as AIDS)”

Is this actually true? I always thought steroids were illegal no matter what?

One of my friends took steroids(different kind supposedly) because of some eye problem he had, doctor gave it to him, so I guess so...but I believe there are different levels of steroids or something like that...I am not expert on this subject.

yes its true. doctors can prescribe anything they want. my doctor wanted to start me on gh but i declined. but yes they have the power to prescribe anything.

Within reason.
Some sheduled drugs require government permission to prescribe (such as cannabis, etc) this depends on the state/country you live in.

Some drugs, such as schedule 1 drugs have no legitimate medical use so will not be prescribed (lsd, etc). There are exceptions to this such as ******* which is still used in very rare circumstances and most hospitals will stock it. Also diamorphine (heroin) is to be found in most hospitals, but I doubt these can be prescribed

But anabolic or androgenic steroids can be prescribed to those with sufficient endocrine deficiencyis such as thos with chronic diseases or just old men. Dont confuse these with other steroid drugs (prednisone, cortisone, etc) these are steroids but are not nanbolic or androgenic. It just refers to their chemical structure.

Damn they give estrogen to any chick that wants it, dunno why test is so evil...

most likely corticosteroids...(the opposite of the kind we like) to break down tissue (most likely to treat inflammation).

and no, MD's cant prescribe whatever they feel like. If your GP is prescribing patients AAS with no valid reason they will be caught eventually. Here in Las Vegas, doctors have been caught numerous times prescribing pain killers (basically selling narcotics) for non-specific symptoms such as "headaches" and some have lost their licenses. Same could happen with AAS as they are both sched III.

Yep. Example? Kids with some form of Luekemia (sp?) are treated with up to 300mg of Anadrol a day. BB's use 50mg usually, and it's one of the harshest steroids!

Steroids do wonders for people with wasting conditions (Aids, etc...) Like any medication, there is good and bad, it depends how it's used, so don't believe the uninformed media! It's very hard to kill yourself with steroids, but asprin causes (Directly!) lots of deaths every year! (OD's, Bleeding ulcers etc...)

Remember that just about any illegal drug you can buy on the streets/blackmarket, you can buy legally with a doctor's prescription. Examples are heroine=oxycontin, methamphetamine=dexedrine/********, coke=ritalin, and many other pain killers and benzo's by prescription.

The irony is that most of the time, the "medicinal" use of these drugs legal or not is more dangerous in the long run than it's recreational use IMPO.

They are illegal without a prescription. My little brother is 14 and is on roids. He got diagnosed with Puberty retardation. Meaning he is shorter than about 95% of 14 year olds, and lighter too. He isn't a midget by any means. He is up to about 5 foot now. Was about 4'7 or 8 when he started Oxyandrone ( I think that is the script he is on). He has gained 30 pounds too. But it does cause some side effects. He is the toughest 5 foot 14 year old you would ever see. He gets mad really easy, and has some acne problems (what 14 year old doesn't).

Lots of older men get testoerone injections and lots of women get estrogen.

OT I read a quote that Bud Selig was all unglued because Barry Bonds may have taken juice. This is all I have to say: If a drug can make a 40 year old man more cometitive than a bunch of 25 year old guys instead of damning it we should be embracing it!!

That's ph naturally converts to testosterone what ur converting isn't so natural. Not everybody has the genetics for this to work. Ppl who do and ppl who don't.
