    foods that act as diuretics?

I am about 3.5 wks out, should I be eliminating foods that are natural diuretics ie asparagus, cucumber & caffeine, or are they ok until i bump up the water intake?
    Thanks!

I'm 9 days out and still drinking coffee (black - no sweeteners!).

But my diet is really different than others I've seen here.

It's fine til you bump up the water intake to prep the final week where you will be manipulating your body water through dietary sodium and potassium intakes.

asparagus is fine all the way up to about 4 days out from ur contest. if you are doing the sodium load/deplete, water deplete, I would eat, and usually do, asparagus up to weds before the show. I also drink dandelion tea to assist with water depletion. Good luck.

i was under the impression that asparagus acted as a diuretic, in which case wouldnt i want to continue to eat it in the days leading up to the show?

it does act as a diuretic. eating asparagus with your protein in the final week will not cause y ou health problems if that was a concern for you. it is just another tool you can use to help rid your body of excess water. asparagus by itself is not going to harm you your last week. in my last couple of weeks of contest prep, where my diet calls for my one or two cups of veggies, i eat asparagus. that along with drinking dandelion tea and sodium loading/depleting all work together to help bring me in dry for my show.

i just reread your message. on my diet, i do not eat any green veggies after wednesday before a show but if your diet calls for greens in the last days before your show than by all means choose asparagus

Green tea is a diuretic. And any high protein diet will keep body water to a minimum as well.
