I recently finished a big bottle of EAS HMB, taking it as directed, and didn't notice it doing a damn thing. I weigh 200 lbs. Should I have taken a higher than recommended dose? Do some people not respond to HMB?

too bad he was full of ****. HMB is a garbage supplement, so don't expect huge gains.
HMB works quite well as a muscle-preserver on low-cal, low-carb diets. It basically locks protein in the muscle, keeping it from being burned by catabolic hormones. The trouble with HMB is the price. An effective dose is 2-3grams 3 times a day (6-9 grams total) which can turnout to be more expensive than most people can afford.

Another bump but hey.
Is HMB mainly to counteract cortisol ? ie, when ur stressed. are there any timescales for taking it, how long it takes to kick in or last (minutes, hours, weeks)
I guess in the morning wouldn't benefit, but taking it later in the day or last thing at night ?
also checked this out

Bump!!
I take it post work out with my protein, it is supposed to keep muscles from being broken down right? For some reason if i take more than 2grams a day i get weird pains though, kinda like when you get that stitch in your ribs feeling but it stays for a day until i let the hmb in my system drop down.

So supposing money is no issue here...
HMB will essentially minimize the loss of muscle mass when conditions are conducive to the loss of muscle mass?
Then would one moderately OCD person be justified in taking HMB as a sort of fall back (again money no issue) when there is slack in diet/exercise?
....or is that some crazy bull****
