How long after a meal should you wait before working out? Is it beneficial to eat within an hour of working out or more beneficial to wait 2 hours or so?

1-2 hours usually if you aren't supplementing with any workout drinks that contain protein/carbs. Remember, its best to re-fuel (aka eat) every 3 hours so don't start a 1.5 hour workout 2.5 hours after your last meal.
For example, I just finished my last meal a little after 4 and I'm planning on working out around 6:00 or 6:30. Since I try to eat every three hours and my workout will definitely go beyong 7:00, I have a pre-workout drink with 20g protein, creatine, and some BCAAS, along with BCAAs during my workout.Fortuna Favet Fortibus

my pre-workout meal is my breakfast so i eat at 5:45 and then workout at 7.. my breakfast is mostly carbs with a protein shake (bowl of cereal and a banana) im trying to maxamize my carbs earlier in the day and aroudn my workout to use the maximum amount of glycogen when i get in the gym and then of course afterwards i have my protein/carb PWO shake (whey, dex) and a PWO meal of carbs and proteins.. and then a PPWO meal of carbs and protein.. then the rest of the day i focus on protein + fat meals as carbs are not so stresses as I am just working at my jobs

it also depends on how much u are digesting and if its a whole food meal or liquid meal..
if ur taking down some milk and toast compared to a huge bowl of cereal and a banana with a shake like myself.. i give myself a good 30-40 minutes after im done eating beacuse it takes me a good 30 minutes to take it down

Ahhh...I got a friend like you.
We go to eat somewhere and we're all ready to leave, check paid and everything and he's still chewing. He probably digests food better than all of us but I love my food too much to let it sit there on a plate for a long time. I'm all about the mouthfulls.
The rest of my friends and I love to eat and are pretty strong athletic guys, but my slow-eating friend has always been the thinnest, even though he has a pretty good lifting routine 4-5 days per week. His nutrition is just not very good. Doesnt eat alot and when he does it's like he's struggling to swallow.
I could never understand people who can't eat. It's probably my 3rd favorite thing to do. I'll let you guys use your imaginations about what the first 2 are.Fortuna Favet Fortibus

Not too great LOL. I never really played basketball when I was younger, so the last 3 months or so I've really been working at it, about 5 times a week I'll play 20-30 minutes, a few times we'll play 3 hours or so straight.
I've mainly been working on posting up and controlling the paint...definitely my favorite part
