Shaving
I don't really shave anything as I'm not a professional, but the idea does intrigue me. For those of you that do, what's it like? There are many days I could sure go without armpit hair and that in the netherregions. On the other hand, lower leg and chest hair are sort of near and dear to me.
I'd like everyone to share their opinions on what hair they have, what they had taken, and how.

Your right man. But I know some guys who shave their arms, they do it and I don't know why. He says that it just looks better and he gets more girls, but then again he always gets girls and the girls -o-meter was broken at the time I should have measured.(that was a joke)

But the guy I'm talking about does fitness competitions(joke).

It's not bad at all bro, i shave everything on my body. To me it appeals to the women. They much rather have a guy who shaves than who doesn't shave. I think of it as we want our women to shave so they probably would like the same thing in return. The experience is not bad, I do all my shaving in the shower. Just remember to go slow because if you get tired of being in their for awhile and start to go fast, you usually end up cutting yourself( which f***in sucks b@ll$!! ) but end the in the end you will like it. Go against the grain and you should be fine.

Does it itch like hell after you shave your chest hair, etc? Do you a regular razor(mach-3 type)?

No Sir, not at all. Soon as i get out the shower, I put on some Curel lotion and I am good to go. I found my armpits to itch a little ( armpits are the only place i REALLY hate shaving ) but i put some mitchin deoderant on and that goes away. I guess it's just the person, but there is really not itch to me at all. I use generic razors ( you know the ones where you get like 10 to 15 in a pack.. lol ). I use them for about 3 weeks and when you feel the razor getting rough( you'll know when its time ) I just throw it away and get another.

I've always shaved my head(s) and certain other non-visible regions, just to keep cool, but today I just did the whole thing...everything but the eyebrows.
I've always been scared of the 'gay' thing, and I've been called a 'homophobic' countless times, but I decided today to conquer my genetics and do it.
Some girls like it, some dont. Last week some girl told me she digs my ethnicity, despite the fur. She even said she liked fur (not in those words though).
If you're thinking of 'what will girls think', DONT. that goes for everything, not just shaving. I shaved for myself and a real man (I cant speak for metrosexuals) wouldn't do it for 'chicks'.
I've been fur-free for about 10 minutes. It took a while. I used electric clippers, not a straight razor. Thats just nuts, unless you shave regularly. My main concern was that it would grow back thicker after doing so, but then I thought of the hidden zone, and thought of how it doesn't (i went about 6 months without doing it there) but also, i decided to just say 'f it'.
you dont lather as quick :P but you do dry off faster all the time i was doing it (it took forever, cus i was sweating, which didn't help) I kept thinking of ways to cover it, so people wouldn't notice my shaved legs. now i dont care as much, and those clippers left plenty of stubs anyways. relatively speaking, i have more hair on me than the average kid with peachfuzz, so its all gravy. i've also noticed that a lot of guys have shaved legs at the gym as well, though they usually wear very long shorts (now i know why i guess). they might be gay but i doubt it.
so far, it feels good. think long about it. stubs will be a bytch, but i have some already and they dont really bother me that much (so far). of course its only been a few minutes. i came to this site right after the shower to read about other peoples experiences

Shaving
Since Tyciol asked about shaving (and I've done it a lot), I thought I'd post my experiences.
I have coarse hair that curls back toward the skin as it grows out, so I found that either Nair or a moustache trimmer (personal groomer) works best to prevent ingrown hairs from forming.
Here are some different hair removal methods that are available:
1. Personal groomers (moustache trimmers). Like tiny barber's clippers, they give you a close shave, but cut the hairs evenly so they don't have a point at the end (making them more prone to cause razor bumps/or irritate the skin). Since it shaves a small surface area at time, it can take a while to shave if you have hair covering your entire chest and abdomen.

b. http://www.skippypodar.net/WebGaller...algroomer3.jpg - This is the one I have.
2. Rotary shavers. Provides a good close shave but for those with sensitive skin, it can produce razor bumps.
http://www.skippypodar.net/WebGaller...taryshaver.jpg
3. Straight/disposable razors. Also works well, however it can also produce razor bumps in people with coarse/curly hair.
4. Nair (or any depilatory). Removes hair by dissolving it. Leave on for no longer than 7-10 minutes as it will begin to dissolve skin if it's left on too long (causing scarring).

5. Waxing. It hurts like heck because the hair is ripped out of the follicle. It lasts a long time, but the hair eventually grows back.
6. Laser hair removal. Expensive and time consuming, particularly if you're very hairy. This form of hair removal is permanent, and works best on people with dark hair and fair skin.

So depending on the way you remove the hair (and whether you shave with or against the direction of growth), it may itch a lot when it grows back. If you have thin hair, and you use Nair to remove it, it won't itch. If you have thick, coarse hair, and you shave it with a razor, it will itch like crazy after about 1 week of growing back. The sad thing is, when you first shave, the skin is incredibly smooth and you'll think "Wow... this is great! I look huge! I think I'll keep it!", but after about a week or so you get stubble, prompting you to shave it again.
The first time I shaved for a bodybuilding competition, I shaved with a razor and was smooth all over and it felt great. Then a week after the competition, I was in agony because I itched all over. After the hair grew out for a few days, the itching stopped, however some of the hairs became ingrown and I had pimples. The pimples are caused by the hair burrowing back into the skin, causing irritation. I would gently pull the hair back out of the skin using the point of a sterile safety pin (making sure not to poke myself).
So, I found that using a razor was not for me.
Nair produced the best results, however I had to make sure I left it on long enough to work. In my case, it takes about 7 minutes and leaves the skin very smooth. You have to try it on a small area at first because since it dissolves the hair, your skin may also react to it. Fortunately, the cellular structure of skin is a little tougher than hair so it doesn't start to breakdown the skin until after about 10-12 minutes of contact. The downside of depilatories like Nair is that they usually smell pretty bad. However, they are getting better by adding fragrance to it. Nair for Men is a pretty good product, while Epil-Stop & Spray never worked for me.
For my arms and legs, I can use the rotary shaver with no problem. The area around my biceps and behind my knee is a bit sensitive so I use a razor for those areas. And mostly for my chest, I use either Nair, or the moustache trimmer that I mentioned before. Nair and the moustache trimmer produce the least itching, however Nair gets a perfectly close "shave". The moustache trimmer leaves the hair just long enough that the follicle doesn't become irritated, but it's short enough that the only way you can tell the hair is still there is to either touch the area, or look very closely. With Nair, you have to apply it once every 1-2 weeks. With the moustache trimmer, I have to shave once every 3-4 days to stay smooth.
As far as chest hair goes, I usually let it grow back a bit in the winter (and trim it occassionally) and shave it off completely during the Spring and Summer, as I'm shirtless much more often between March - October and I don't want to freak people out with "The Carpet".
So experiment with a few things to see which works best for you.
Hope this helps.

i thought i was more economic with the usage of letters.
"great reply." = 10 letters and a period.
"Abdominator, that was a great reply. Saves space, and I like saving things." = two commas, two periods, and a whole lot more letters

Less typing for you, but more space for the poor slow overtaxed board. This message board is like the local slut... everyone shoves in as much as possible and soon she's so weighed down and torn up that it takes forever to find anything on her.
Feel the board, feel for the board.

Hehehe... Nair for Men doesn't cost too much. It's much cheaper than the stuff you find in fitness magazines. It might be a challenge to find at your local grocery store though. You might have to have your store special order it for you. Publix (one of our local supermarket chains) will do that for you.
And I'm glad you liked the website.
