lionelxxl: Omega Sports ONE (Optimal Nutrition Enhancement) Review

Buy It Here: http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/omega/one.html
FAQ/Writeup: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=1588181

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Background: I have tried several PWO concoctions from the usual dex/malt, WMS to the newer PWO formulations like DS REPLENISH. Thus, with the recommendation of several reputable board members and 'thumbs up' from people like Hola Bola and Androgenic, i decided to put my hands up and ask for a tub to try.

Really interested to see how this would match up the my previous PWO formulas.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dosage: 2 scoops (24 g carbs) immediately PWO. I'd sip half and consume the rest with 15g of WPI 5 mins later slowly.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thoughts/Review: I'd start with a few ratings..
- Taste: 8/10
Nice refreshing cherry taste that is sweet>sour. Vey easy to chug down and a thirst quencher IMO.

- Solubility/Mixability: 7/10
Marked this down a little not because it doesn't mix but because there is grit at the bottom. I do not see a problem with this but included this for anybody interested.

- Price: 6/10
Not the cheapest and i really hope demand for this would increase and Omega Sports would be able to lower the price.

With that, i'll go on to describe how well it worked for me.

-Efficacy/Overall: 9/10
ONE isn't something very impressive (label wise) nor does it have a 'gimmick' or a 'unique marketing point' that is really out of this world. Its just a basic carb (Hydro rice syrup) and leucine combo for pre/postworkout supplementation.

What i really liked firstly is its simple approach to PWO supplementation. The most important, IMO, macro PWO is carbs. With hydro rice syrup in its corner, ONE has it pretty well covered. The added leucine (not bcaas, but leucine only) PWO is very welcome too. Numerous studies have shown leucine's benefits around the workout. The presence of minerals/electrolytes and innovative compounds like KIC and glutamin AKG does nothing but 'sweeten' the deal.

The initial review had after 1-2 weeks of ONE was that it wasn't THAT 'good' like its writeup says it to be. There were a number of people who hadn't anything excellent to say about this and the main gripe was them not 'feeling' anything and that they didn't think it helped whatsoever.

ONE doesn't do a very good job with regards to easing DOMS and soreness to be honest. As a PWO supplement, most people would be slanted towards using next day soreness as an indicator of how well ONE works.

However, while the above is true, what i noticed was much much more beneficial IMO. While on ONE, i was

1. eating mainly at a cal deficit and/or maintanence levels
2. Working out 5-6 times a week (not low volume either)
3. Cardio sessions and HIIT sessions interspersed throughout the week

Taking the above into account, what i noticed was never for once, was i NOT ready for a workout. I was always refreshed, able, feeling good, and can't wait to workout, even if i've trashed myself the previous workout, or if i didn't rest well and all. ONE really 'replenished' my energy stores after every workout and i'm amazed at how i managed to workout with such great intensity even while not eating a lot.

Because of this, i was really 'addicted' to working out during this period.. lol. As i NEVER felt tired before a workout, the urge to keep visiting the gym was very strong. I literally had to stop myself from stepping out the door, wearing my shoes and getting to my '2nd home'.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Conclusion:

ONE proves its point in its ability to 'replenish', help recover, ensure maximum nutrition enhancement PWO. While it isn't exactly stellar in the PWO DOMS department, its benefits far outweight a 'little soreness'.. lol. I LIKE to feel sore actually.

Price wise, while supplementing it 2 scoops per serving, ONE would be able to cough out' 30 such servings. Since one would only use it PWO on workout days, somebody working out 4-5 times a week would be able to use ONE for 1.5-2 months.

If you've tried everything and still interesting in going for another PWO formula, do give ONE a go. IMO, you wouldn't be disappointed.

I really liked it and would give it a go again in my next order.

It kind of grew on me. I think that if it's around $40-$45 on bb.com, and you can use a discount code, then it's worth picking up...the price is just too high for me at the time ($58) I workout around 16x/month and I use two scoops post workout, so it lasts me around 2 months...not bad at all considering what you're getting. I think the important thing is to not look to feel the results, but to see them in the mirror.

Now...this new Fadogia product looks very promising, and Omega Sports is a fine company (I have 3 bottles of Burn3D sitting next to me), so you can have faith in this supplement as well.

Especially with the 'not feel but see' part.

Mat and Omega are definitely good people. I'm with you on the price too. If i could hook up with Mat for a buy 1 get 1 deal.. damn! lol. *hint hint*

Welcome to free form amino acids . That's the Leucine (primarily) causing the problems I would think. Stir, and leave it in the fridge for a bit - that should help dissolve it.
