I imagine it would be, though I don't know for certain.

Assuming that if by deload you mean allow it to rest on the ground and killing momentum before lifting it up again (which, if I understand, is actually the correct way to do it).

I cant answer that for certain either, but I would really assume so. When you deload it everything has to fire off again at the same time to get the bar moving up again.

Also, are you supposed to set the weight down for Rack Deadlifts as well?

I believe the correct way is to deload on every rep as well. I have done it this way for years now, and no problems. I would recommend doing it this way since the weight is intended to be lifted from a "dead" stop. Off the ground with no momentum is the proper way.

ya well you'd be surprised how many people don't put those two together, realizing that being a "dead lift" you are lifting off the ground, each and every rep...

Truthfully, I don't even think most personal trainers know this is the proper technique. I see many teaching their clients to using a mixed grip, while pulling the bar back up once it reaches just below the knee. In my opinion, you neglect the bottom portion of the lift, which would involve the largest muscle in the body, the gluteus maximus.

Cant really call a deadlift a "dead"lift without the deload. Without it, its not a deadlift, its just a lift.

As stated previously, the correct way to do it is to have it come to a complete stop then lift again, hence the term "Dead Lift"

I also thought that deloading the weight was more effective for building explosive strength whereas deloading the weight was more taxing on the musculature of the back and hips; resulting in more growth. Any links?
