    To squat or not to squat...That is the question

    Ok...15 years old, 5'10", 150lbs (69kgs) not fully grown...i already got big ass legs they are way ahead of the rest of my body...

    should I go against what every1 has been telling me and start doing free weight squats or should i stick to leg press and squat machine for now...coz i dont wanna damamge my vertebrae

    also, when my whey arrives (hopefully in the next week) when should I be drinking it? I was thinking first thing in the morning as soon as i get up with skim milk and after workouts in the afternoon with water (so it absorbs quicker). then on non workout days just have the afternoon shake with skim milk too for the extra protein.

    Your thoughts?

    Do free weight squats. Start out light and develop a safe technique. You should also try front squats. If you play football that are one of the best things .

    Is it just me or does anyone have a problem lifting the weight that you can squat to get it up to your head for front squats or even behind your neck for regular squats? I probably can squat 175 but I cant lift 175 above my chest.
    Why wouldn't someone want to take care of their own body?

    You should use a squat cage then, it's a lot safer and you don't need to lift the bar to get in position.
