Now I could still be wrong, and there may be some strange uptake of glycerol into muscle cells. I know glycerol is taken up by fat cells to make triglycerides, and by the liver to be catabolized into stuff that enters into the glycolytic and gluconeogenisis pathways."

well I want to ask what is the position of CL on this subject cause seems like that the use of glicergrow goes against the rationale of this thread, not trying to start a drama but I have a bottle of GG here and want to know the logic of the product
    thanks

This a rare, actual "check the logs" instance for the most part. There is very little research regarding GMS (specifically) in a bodybuilding context. I can't emphasize enough that only part of the formula is GMS. That used to constantly go over peoples heads during the original discussions. It's one of our least profitable products, it would be LONG gone if it didn't get such rave reviews... what like 8+ years worth of rave reviews ? Possibly a industry "first" who knows...

    Theory was this:

    1) Glycerol is esterified with Stearic Acid to form Glycerol MonoStearate.

    2) Glycerol MonoStearate is consumed in powder form with plenty of water

    3) During digestion, a hydrolysis reaction occurs that involves breaking the
ester link, resulting in Stearic Acid and Glycerol. At this point we do have
a "surplus" of glycerol and we are also "hyperhydrated" due to:
    a) Consuming plenty of water

    b) The (VERY well documented) osmotic effects of glycerol

Glycerol appears to have 2 pathways from this point:

Pathway 1) It is metabolized and involved in glycolysis,
gluconeogenesis, dihydroxyacetone phosphate, and ATP (energy) production. My
theory is that since Glycerol is naturally occuring in the body, by
supplementing with it during exercise or weightlifting, we end up with a
surplus of energy, enhanced muscle glycogen, and cell volumization over this
period of time (during exercise or weightlifting). This is not earth
shattering ! This does not mean that it will give you steroid-like gains.
It simply means that it "works".

Pathway 2) Direct acylation of glycerol results in monoacylglycerol.
According to a 2001 study "little is known about intestinal
[monoacylglycerol] absorption". My theory is that this monoacylglycerol can
be re-esterified to form intramuscular / myo-cellular triacylglycerol and
studies indicate that as glycerol levels become elevated "a considerable
amount of glycerol is shunted toward the direct acylation pathway". This
potential is a good thing during exercise or weightlifting

    Summary:

As you can see, we are essentially rehydrating and refueling DURING our
workout, as well as increasing cell volume to enhance the anabolic response
    of exercise or weightlifting.
