    Lifting with a broken hand

Hey guys. I was just curious if anyone has any suggestions on workouts I can do with a broken hand. Obviously, the amount of exercises I can do are fairly small. Such as benching, deadlifts, etc. There's no way in hell I wanna go 4-6 weeks with no lifting at all. Any suggestions?
    Deadlift: 315 X 6
    Bench Press: 265 X 1

    NO! You = rest.

Anything you lose will be gained promptly back because of muscle memory.

    Time for a leg day

Although you can't do a lot with your upper body because of your hand, there are still plenty of leg exercises you can do. So, just look at it this way...no you have time to hit one of the more neglected parts of the body.

You are joking right?!?! Rest the hand, theres no way in hell that lifting is a good idea. For starters you could worsen the damage and cause permanent damage or at best lengthen your recovery time. You wouldn't try and Squat with a broken leg, why bench with a broken hand unless you plan on using one hand which would just be stupid....

If you want to cause potentially permanent or long term damage to your hand, by all means continue to lift!!!! That is, assuming you can grip the damn bar while you have a cast on your hand...

Do curls exclusively with that arm reverse curls are good for that also. That is what you wish to hear right?

Avoid any exercise if you can.

If you must exercise, use non-hand routines like training abs or training legs - it's better than nothing.

don't forget about stuff like leg pressing- although hands arn't involved, your body tighens signifigantly and the pressure may not be good for healing bones.

I hope the guy who started this thread has been paying attention to the advice. It pretty much boils down to:

    DON’T DO IT!!!
    1. I thought all along you'd be the death of me, but I met one tonight who wants what's left of me!
    2. You are so full of s***, maintenance is still unclogging the toilet.

you are all wrong , you need resistance exercise on a broken bone for it to heal properly , it WILL NOT HEAL without proper exercise. move it as much as u can throughotu the day and do 2lb dumbell curls 3 times a day. im a specialist on physical therapy , you guys dont know what you are talking about. Long story short, lift to heal.

If you are a physical therapy specialist you should know that you cannot give out advice like that without knowing more about the patient. You have NO IDEA how badly his hand is broken and your advice could just hurt him even more. A doctor wouldn't be able to operate like that without being struck off very very quickly.

    In short.... Shut up

There are machines that you can use that won't need your hands. So check the machines available.

You can also decondition for 2 weeks without losing a significant amount of muscle. You lose glycogen but that's it.
