Dirt Barbies

Interesting term I just heard--and I like it! Refers to girls who like to play hard & get dirty like a tomboy, but still like to dress up, wear heels, and get pretty.

I bet lots of us ladies here fit that description--I know I love playing outside & I'm not afraid of dirt. I like lifting heavy (well, heavy for me anyhow), and if I get cut or bruised while doing so I'm proud of it


So...... who else is a Dirt Barbie?

Haha I'm DEFINITELY a dirt barbie. 8 years of tae kwon do and a few years of rugby in the middle of rich bitch plastic surgery suburbia will do that to ya.

well that is certainly me...I've been called kungfu barbie, firefighter barbie and scuba barbie...but never dirt barbie. all my barbie references were more activity specific! :P

You should see me at one of my hobbies, rockhounding, with a sledge hammer busting rocks covered in mud, muck, clay etc, etc.

Mucking the barn is pretty nasty too!

I mucked stalls & tacked horses at a barn in exchange for lessons 2 summers ago--my bf asked if we wore gloves when we cleaned the stalls--he was seriously grossed out! Wuss.

My most recent obsession is rock climbing. I went last weekend and had a blast, and totally cut up my leg on the last climb. Blood was running down to my ankle & I was wearing a huge grin on my face when I finished

I think the activity with the most ick factor was chumming for sharks during a summer program in CA when I was in high school. It involved cutting fairly large fish into chunks & smashing them with mallets. Talk about slimey! This is dumped into the water with hope that it will attract sharks. Unfortunately it did not work

I was 16 or 17 at the time, and we had the bright idea to have a contest that involved sticking bait fish to our bodies using peanut butter....dunno what we were thinking, but by that time we were so gross it didn't really matter much anyhow

As for the Barbie part, I wore leather pants & heels to class on occasion in undergrad, did some modeling for a hair salon that ended up in one of those hair style magazines, and I wear heels to work almost every day. I have 2 Cole Haan bags, 2 Coach bags, and a custom bag my sweetie had made for me in Ibiza. I like to dress up occasionally, and I can do a pretty good job of it when I try to.

Bait fish and Peanut butter! What were you trolling for! LOL. I think that one beats making chum, of course I grew up fishing and still love to so, chumming I don't think of as gross.

I don't mind mucking stalls, in fact I love it, the smell does not bother me at all.

We used to rock climb alot back in the 80's, then came the kids.

Not sure about the Barbie part, but yeah, I'd say that's me!

THis weekend I will be poking around my car to see what needs doing (apart from minor bodywork repairs, suspension and shocks), and then going to the hot rod cruise. THere will probably be some drinking involved, but that wll be done wearing make up and nice clothes

Not sure about the heels either......but I do like to dress up on occassion!
