    why do protein shakes hurt my stomach so bad?

    does anyone know why this happens? It seems like everytime I have one I have terrible stomach pains and then I have to use the bathroom..any reason why?

    That may well be it. I'd always get bloated after shakes, and I started taking lactaid with them and was fine.

    I used to be lactose intolerant, but I sucked it up and kept drinking milk. Now im used to it and it doesnt hurt my stomach anymore.

    Lactose intolerance does not affect the stomach. Unless you are using "stomach" to mean abdomen in general...

    Lactose intolerance causes gas and diarrhea because you can't digest and absorb the lactose out of your small intestines. The effects won't happen immediately after eating dairy; it takes a little while.

    If this sounds like your problem, it may be lactose intolerance, though you would probably already know this from your tolerance to other dairy sources.
