ok... quite frankly, you should be doing both.
4-8 weeks of strength based training... progressive overload important here, Concentric failure every 3rd session - this means fullbody's
then 8-12 weeks of hypertrophy-specific training - ie splits with 8-12 range. No need to go any heavier than this.
Blood Volume, Controlled Negatives, and maximal fibre stimulation important here...
To put it simply,
Something like Rippetoes for 8 weeks,
then a basic 3 day split(done twice per week) for 12 weeks, with a week of strategic deconditioning between.
