What is the best high intensity cardio workout? Be specific.

High intensity cardio can be done many ways. Some of my favorite ways are on the treadmill, elliptical, or just plain running outside. You could also do high intensity cardio on an exercise bike, really the options are limitless. Your heart rate is the key factor, not what exercise. Ideally the cardio session will be split up into three parts:
1. Warm up
2. The actual workout
3. Cool down

HIIT is done in intervals. Usually HIIT is sprint, rest/jog, sprint, rest/jog, etc. High intensity cardio often only lasts 10-20 minutes. The jog and sprint are each about 15-60 seconds; however you may jog for longer if you are finding it hard to keep up. I would do a split like this:
Warm up 5 minutes:

Complete 3-10x:
Sprint 30 Seconds
Rest 30 Seconds

Cool down 5 minutes

The number of sprint intervals solely depends on you and your fitness levels. I would suggest starting small and only doing 3-4 intervals then work your way up. Make sure you give it everything you have on the sprints to benefit from the heart rate jump from the sprinting.

High intensity cardio has many benefits. It is proven to be the most effective workout for burning fat which is extremely important to all of us. It is also very quick. People use to do low intensity cardio for 40-60 minutes at a time. We live in a fast paced world and want to get things done fast. This allows us more time to have throughout the day and also put in weight lifting if need be. It also does wonder in helping you get into shape compared to low intensity cardio. You will find your stamina increasing with each workout and throughout the day. While cutting high intensity cardio and its anaerobic nature is very muscle sparing on a cut and can possibly even build muscle while cutting.
What are some of the drawbacks of a high intensity cardio workout?

There are very few drawbacks with high intensity cardio except for the fact it can be very tiring if done correctly. If extremely out of shape I would recommend starting with low intensity cardio then working your way to low intensity cardio.

Who would benefit from a high intensity cardio workout over a low intensity cardio workout?

Anyone can benefit from high intensity cardio. For people to looking into getting in shape, this is a great way to do it. High intensity cardio is amazing for people who want to lose body fat and maintain muscle, possibly even gain muscle, while cutting. This workout would also be great for someone who wants a quick workout and don?t have all day to spend at the gym. Also, athletes can benefit from this as high intensity cardio often is related to most sports and this could benefit their sports they partake in.
