olive oil

Whenever I cook on the grillpan, I usually add olive oil in with little or no regard to how much I'm putting in.

Is this really so bad?

Depends of wether it fits in to your caloric allowance.
A teaspoon is 4grams, which equates to 40 calories of 100% fat.
I normall measure how much i have a day, like 3 tsps a day.

Well if it's greasing the pan correctly then no. Now there's the question of if it's greasing the pan correctly or not. The oil should be just enough to thinly coat the entire surface of the pan. That much oil won't add a load of fat to the food, it of course does add some though. Now if you're just piling it on then there's two problems. First is that you are in fact adding on a load of fat. Second, the pan won't cook too well. So just be careful.

As a side note, why don't you use an aerosol? They generally work much better, and I believe you can find EVOO versions.

Try putting the oil on your meat BEFORE u cook it?? Then u can easily gauge exactly how much u have consumed.
I always rub my steak with 2 tsp of oil then whack it on the hot oil less pan. that would make it steak+80 calories of fat .Easy to calculate.
