I used to move an incline bench under the smith machine at our school since we don't have an incline bench press. It was weird though. I prefer a regular bar anytime. And I've also had to roll the weight down when I didn't have a spotter. It sucks, but there aren't that many people in my school that are interested in this stuff.

LISTEN TO ME when i say this buddy, get away from the smith machine immediatekly and get stuck into dumbells/barbells.
They really do hold u back. I used the smith machine for almost a year and barely went anywhere, even training hard on it every week. I finally went to freeweights only and my chest and bench lifts skyrocketted.
Stop holding yourself back and drop it from your split. My journal http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=5662511
