no pain = no gain?
i just started working out again after like a 3-week leave cuz school just ended, and this was the first time in a while where i felt sore after a workout in a while. for the previous couple of weeks before i stopped working out, after working out, i didn't feel too sore. now every week, i increased the weight, and i was struggling, and i did lift more each week, but i still didn't feel sore. even when i wasn't able to lift the weight, i slightly lowered the weight, and the next day, i barely had any soreness.
now, my question is, since you build muscle by tearing your muscle fibers, if you don't feel sore, are you still building muscle?

I'd say you're still gaining muscle, for some people take a lot more lifting to get the muscles sore.
Personally I realised the problem was I was actually being lazy by switching excersizes or doing more sets when really what I should of been doing is pushing my self to complete the last few reps of my workout. my point is when you think you can do only 1 more rep, go for 5.

Unless you got like 600 pounds on your back. 1 rep is fine.

So you're advocating training to failure then?
If someone can only do one more rep he isn't going to be able to do five more.

he's right but you know youve had a good workout when you finish your sets, lets do legs for example and you try to walk but all you wanna do is sit down cuz your legs feel like mush.

Focussing on form of the lifts and nutrition instead of DOMS is a better idea.
