    Lower back pain from running

I deadlift and squat all the time, but my back never bothers me when or after doing those. But whenever I run hard, I always get stiffness and pain in my lower back. It also happened doing high rep bodyweight squats today. Anyone experience something similar?

****, this is the exact problem I'm currently dealing with now -- happened a couple weeks ago, out of no where, that during a run my lower back, glutes, hams were tight and sore as all hell. The whole posterior chain, really, even the calves. I had to cut my run short it was so tight, sore, and painful.

This was several weeks ago, so I took a week off of heavy lifting, started back (doing a 2nd round Rippetoe's program) and have still encountered lingering traces of this issue.

I'm still generally out of shape and am wary of adding too much to the Rippetoe program as mentioned in Keth's write-up, but would hyperextensions be the solution? Any help is appreciated.

Hamstrings are more than likely tight. I had this same problem. My glutes were also underactive, I had to really focus on firing them and having a tight core when I lifted. I started doing floor bridges and really flexing the hell out of my glutes when I hold at the top of the exercise.
Also stretch your hip flexors man. But more than likely a lot of it has to do with tight hams.

Most people arent built properly to be joggers over 1-2 times a week.

Crosstrain on your cardio and keep jogging to 2 times a week or under.

Also make sure your arches are in good shape or grab some orthodics.

Your glutes arent really firing during a jog.....ever see joggers bodies?

Lean, flat booty, small upper body, big calves......slow twitch dominant builds....ugh not for me never understood jogging/joggers but it does help with staying lean from what ive seen.

I mentioned my glutes were underactive because I had all kinds of crap going on with my core and legs. The main issue was hamstrings.
