-Humans drink cow's milk.
-Reese's Peanut Butter Cups are delicious
-Humans can do like 500 pounds deadlifts (and much more of course) and still be dexterous enough to pick flowers etc
-pretty much all biological processes (cell mitosis, DNA replication, etc, photosynthesis for plants) are going on all the time, and all at once.

that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream and we're the imagination of ourselves...

The Hubble Telescope can see back to within 700,000 years of the beginning of the universe.
Later in 2008, they are going to update it so it will be like 50% more powerful or something crazy like that.
What will we see then?
If the big bang created the universe and everything expanded from there, what did it expand into?"To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Nobody is born a warrior, in exactly the same way that nobody is born an average man. We make ourselves into one or the other."-- Carlos Castaneda

we can't see "nothing." it's not dark or black; it's just beyond us. it's beyond the scope of our physical consciousness. we need light to bounce off something for it to register as "something" to our human brains. and light cannot bounce off "nothing."
they exist as human registers. we sense/feel light dimming and heat decreasing. that's good enough for scientists, that's good enough for you. the thing is, it doesn't really matter if cold and dark are "absences" of something. all our experiences are relative, not absolute. we do not really experience "heat" or "light" per se. we only experience their degrees. so yes, cold and dark exist truly, even scientifically.
this is a cool thread. makes me want to write a poem on it. reps for the OP.Last edited by arkskier; 06-25-2008 at 08:53 PM.
