I use to work at an Albertsons in the meat department. You will pay around $2 a pound if you get it on sale at most grocery stores, and upwards of $4 if you dont, so stock up when it goes on sale . Probablly cheaper if you get it in bulk (wally-world, costco etc).

We shop at Sam's Club. I get about 15 Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts for about $15. Each breast is enough for 2 people.

Costco. Big bag of individually frozen BIG breasts for about $15. Think it has like 8 pounds or so in it.
I just want to be healthy.

They are expensive around here. Probabaly about 6-7$ just for a small bag that would have about 5-6 small chicken breasts. I agree with the above poster buying in bulk is the way to go. Sams Club has some great ones...but they are expensive for a bag 13-16$ a bag but the chicken breast are HUGE. I hate 1 last nite and its the size of about 2 of them...and they are really good.

Definately get a Costco card. Especially if you plan on lifting for some time. You can get more than just chicken there. Milk is cheaper, eggs are cheaper. Ive gotten 4 pounds of almonds for $8. You will save a fortune.

As for the chicken, the chicken in the bags is actualy fresher than what you would get at the local grocer. It is flash frozen so it actually spends less time at lower temps than grocer chicken. I can not stand chicken from grocery stores. I find it rubbery in comparison.

2.00 at bulk grocery stores. 4.00 at premium grocery stores.

1.50 on very rare occasions and big sales.

I shop at one of the nicer grocery stores in my region...Harris Teeter.

They have the 4-5lb bulk packs of chicken breast for $2.99 per lb.

When you buy the smaller packages, you pay about $5/lb for it.

I only get the smaller packs when they run a buy one get one free special...otherwise, bulk is the way to go.

I've been on my own now for three years at university, and while costco is good for bulk foods, i found their chicken FRIGGING DISGUSTING. if you really want to save alot of money, M&M's Meat shop is the place, They have 4 GIGANTIC sales a year for all types of chicken (flavored and regular) and its cheap. I buy 4-5 boxes at a time, and the chicken is honestly the juiciest ever, its delicious. Fry it up in a frying pan for 6-7 minutes a side and VOILA its like gold.

Im a huge fan of M&M's... and if you get their membership you save even more.

Shop at costco for things like toilet paper and detergents and stuff... not chicken.

    cheers
PS: goodluck on your own! its good times
